Former “Teen Mom” star Jenelle Evans broke her silence after news began circulating that her eldest son, Jace Evans, was admitted into a mental health facility.
“The son is receiving the help he needs, and Jenelle has been dedicated to finding the best treatment and the right place to support his progress,” a rep for Jenelle told Daily Mail on Wednesday, March 11. “Her commitment and persistence in seeking the most effective care show how deeply she cares about her son’s well-being and future.”
The statement continued, “At this time, we respectfully ask for privacy for the family and Jenelle Evans. This is a personal matter, and space and understanding are appreciated as they focus on their well-being and time together. Thank you for respecting their privacy during this time.”
Jenelle Plans to Visit Jace in the Mental Health Hospital
While Jace, 16, lives with his grandmother, Barbara Evans, in North Carolina, and Jenelle lives in Las Vegas with her other children, the former reality star is set to travel east to visit her son.
According to TMZ, Jenelle has yet to visit Jace in person, but is planning a trip during spring break.
In addition to Jace, Jenelle shares son Kaiser with ex Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley with ex-husband David Eason.
The outlet reported on March 11 that the “16 & Pregnant” alum “spent about a week making calls and working to help facilitate proper care for her son.”
Jenelle regained custody of her teenage son in 2023, after signing over her rights to her mother, Barbara, when Jace was still an infant. However, after multiple attempts to run away from his mother’s home, Jace went back to living with Barbara, despite Jenelle still maintaining legal custody.
Jace Was Admitted Into Mental Health Facility
Jace was admitted into a mental health facility late last month after a terrifying incident involving his grandmother.
TMZ reported on Tuesday, March 10, that Barbara called 911 after Jace “pulled a gun on her” on February 27. Authorities responded to the North Carolina home for a “troubled teen disturbance.”
The outlet later explained that Jace—whom the former reality star shares with ex Andrew Lewis—threatened to take his own life as well as his grandmother’s.
Jace is receiving help after being placed on an involuntary hold, though it remains unclear how long he will remain in care.
At the time, a rep for Jenelle released a statement saying, “At this time, we have no comment on the matter. We’re unable to discuss this issue because it involves confidential personal matters.”
