Friends, family, and former castmates of MTV star Tyler Duckworth are coming together to honor his life following his tragic passing at age 44. His unexpected death has deeply affected those who knew him, including his “The Real World” and “The Challenge” co-stars, among them John Devenanzio, better known as Johnny Bananas.
The reality star took to Instagram on Sunday, August 23, to share heartbreaking photos at Duckworth’s memorial, including touching images that were displayed to celebrate his time on the MTV shows.
Johnny Bananas & MTV Family Come Together to Celebrate Tyler Duckworth
Those who knew Tyler Duckworth best, including family, friends, and those he starred alongside on both “The Real World: Key West” and several seasons of “The Challenge,” came together to honor his life on Saturday, August 22.
On Instagram, John Devenanzio a.k.a Johnny Bananas, shared emotional photos from Duckworth’s memorial service, which, according to Us Weekly, was held at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
In his photos, Devenanzio rests his hand on Duckworth’s urn, while another photo shows him hugging his and Duckworth’s “The Real World: Key West” co-star Jose Tapia.
Several photos shared by Devenanzio also highlighted Duckworth’s many years as a part of the MTV family, including photos and old magazines displayed at his memorial service commemorating his time on “The Real World” and “The Challenge.” One particularly touching display featured a large photo of the entire Key West cast surrounded by flowers.
In addition, Devenanzio shared a photo of himself speaking at Duckworth’s memorial service, along with images of Duckworth participating in “The Duel,” “The Gauntlet III,” “Cutthroat,” and “Rivals.” Duckworth won both “Cutthroat” and “Rivals.”

According to Page Six, Duckworth was found unresponsive “up against the door” in his apartment on August 11 after a neighbor noticed water coming through the ceiling. It’s still unclear how Duckworth passed as of this writing.
Devenanzio Shares Touching Moment He & Duckworth Starred on MTV’s ‘The Challenge: Rivals’ in 2011
After learning of Duckworth’s shocking passing, Devenanzio took to Instagram to share a touching clip of himself and Duckworth while participating on MTV’s “The Challenge: Rivals” in 2011, which the two men later won. The video showed the two men hugging and telling one another they loved each other.
The clip was followed up by Devenanzio playing acoustic guitar and singing “Pink Skies” by Zach Bryan. As he sang, the video showcased moments of Duckworth’s time on “The Real World: Key West” and several seasons of “The Challenge,” which Devenanzio had also starred in.
Duckworth and Devenanzio were roommates on “The Real World: Key West.”
