Britney Spears has completed her rehab stay and is reportedly back home after voluntarily entering treatment earlier this month.
The 44-year-old pop star checked herself into a treatment facility on April 12, according to Page Six. A source told the outlet at the time that Spears made the decision herself because she was “dedicated to working on her health.”
A representative for the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer also previously confirmed the treatment stay to People, saying the singer was taking steps toward her well-being during a difficult period.
Now, sources are sharing a new update about how Spears is doing after leaving treatment. Page Six reported last week that Spears completed her stay the night before and planned to continue counseling remotely.
The update follows the “Gimme More” singer’s March 4 arrest, which led to a misdemeanor DUI charge. While the legal process is ongoing, the latest report is focused on Spears’ condition after treatment and what comes next for her.
Britney Spears Is Reportedly ‘Doing Really Well’
GettyPage Six reported that Spears left treatment with sources describing a steady outlook.
“She’s doing really well,” the insider told the outlet.
The source said the Grammy Award-winning pop star is also feeling ready for what comes next.
“She’s healthy and happy and feeling very positive and excited to start afresh. Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself,” the insider said.
According to Page Six, Spears entered rehab voluntarily after her March arrest. Another source previously told the outlet that the stay was part of a broader effort to focus on her overall health.
“This isn’t about one substance in particular, it has a dual purpose … this is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her,” the source told Page Six.
Spears’ decision to seek treatment also came with support from people close to her.
Her representative previously told People that her family was involved as the “The Woman in Me” author focused on getting help. The rep said her loved ones were working on a plan to help “set her up for success for wellbeing.”
GettyPeople also reported that Spears’ sons, Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19, supported the decision. Spears shares both sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
“They’ve been clear with her,” a source told People. “They just want her to be healthy.”
What Comes Next for Britney Spears
GettySpears is expected to continue counseling from home, according to Page Six.
The outlet reported that she left treatment on April 29. One day later, Spears was photographed in the passenger seat of a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon while being driven through Calabasas and Westlake Village in California.
Page Six reported that the “Lucky” singer appeared relaxed during the outing.
Her next legal milestone is also approaching. According to Page Six, Spears was officially charged with a misdemeanor for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Her arraignment was set for May 4.
GettyThe outlet noted that Spears is not required to appear in court because the charge is a misdemeanor. If convicted, she could face up to 12 months of probation, along with mandatory fines, fees, and a possible DUI class.
Outside of the legal case, Spears still has a major professional project in development.
Universal Pictures is adapting her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” into a biopic. “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu is attached to direct the film.
Chu previously told Entertainment Tonight that Spears remains “very involved” in the project. He said the goal is to tell her story with care, including what she survived and the public pressure she faced during her career.
