Charlie Puth just dropped a surprise that honestly feels like the perfect full-circle moment. Instead of going bigger, Puth is going smaller, swapping out massive venues for cozy stages where every seat feels like the front row. Yep, he’s officially heading back to his roots with a brand-new show, and it’s giving all the nostalgic feels (just like the photo below).

Back Where It All Began
On September 9, the former “The Voice” advisor took to Instagram with the kind of announcement (seen below) that makes you want to immediately clear your calendar. “I started my career playing for a couple hundred people a night. And it’s been a while since I’ve done it, but I want to do it again. It’s gonna be me and the band, and we’re gonna play a lot of music, just like in the beginning,” Puth explained.
The residency, fittingly called “Whatever’s Clever!,” is set for the legendary Blue Note Jazz Clubs in both New York City and Los Angeles. First up is NYC, with shows running September 25 through September 28. Then, it’s off to L.A. from October 16 through October 19. Oh, and here’s the kicker… he’s doing two shows a night. That’s double the chance to grab tickets and double the chance to hear him in an intimate space that practically guarantees goosebumps.
Hits You Know and Songs You Don’t (Yet)
If you’re wondering what the setlist looks like, Puth already spilled just enough to keep fans intrigued. “Some songs you already know, and some songs you haven’t heard yet,” he teased. Translation: you’ll get your favorite hits, but you’ll also be the first to hear fresh material live. That’s the kind of balance only an artist who’s been at it for years can pull off… giving the crowd exactly what they want while sneaking in something new.
Let’s get real: it’s been a minute since he’s done a show this personal. He admitted, “2015 was the last time I did a show like this, so I’m so excited to be doing this again. I can’t wait to see you all.” For fans who’ve followed him from the start, this feels like a rare chance to time travel back to those early days; except now, Puth has a decade of experience, new music, and an even bigger reason to celebrate.

Of course, news like this spreads fast, and tickets are already in high demand. Pre-sale launched earlier today (September 10), while general sale goes live Friday, September 12, at 10 a.m. local time. To make sure you don’t miss out, head straight to charlieputh.com/live for show details and more.
With intimate venues, a mix of fan favorites and unreleased tracks, and Puth’s excitement to reconnect with audiences in a smaller setting, “Whatever’s Clever!” is shaping up to be more than just a residency. It’s a reminder of where it all began… and a chance to experience Charlie Puth like never before.
