Justin Timberlake is looking to protect himself regarding a possible video that could be coming out.
In 2024, the singer was arrested on a DWI charge while in New York and ultimately reached a plea deal. But now, Timberlake has filed a petition in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Monday, March 2 to prevent the release of the body camera footage of the arrest as it would “invade his privacy,” according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
“Public dissemination of this footage would cause severe and irreparable harm to [Timberlake’s] personal and professional reputation, subject [Timberlake] to public ridicule and harassment, and serve no legitimate public interest,” the document read.
Justin Timberlake Takes Full Accountability For His Actions With Heartfelt Words Outside Of Court
GettyWhen speaking with reporters during his court appearance in September 2024, Timberlake opened up about his arrest.
“I try to hold myself to a very high standard for myself — and this was not that,” the singer said. “I found myself in a position where I could’ve made a different decision. But I’ve had some time to reflect on that.”
“What I’d like to say to everyone watching and listening: Even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car,” he continued. “There’s so many alternatives. Call a friend, take an Uber, there’s many travel apps [or] take a taxi. This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake.”
Justin Timberlake Opened Up About Lyme Disease Diagnosis After His Arrest
In an emotional post following the end of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour in July 2025, Timberlake revealed that he was dealing with a health issue.
“Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease — which I don’t say so you feel bad for me — but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes,” he wrote on Instagram, adding that this came as a surprise.
But with that, it also allowed him to understand “why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.”
However, while he could have decided to postpone or even cancel the tour, Timberlake didn’t want to as he “decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going.”
