“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Jennie Garth is reflecting on a challenging time in her life from her teenage years. She referred to the story as a “terrible, funny, awkward, terrible story.”
Jennie Garth Recalls an Awkward Situation With Her Mom
Garth recalled the story on an appearance on her “I Choose Me” podcast on August 26, when she was joined by her youngest daughter, Fiona Facinelli. In the chat, she revealed that she had visited a clinic with her mother as a teen to ask for birth control. “I didn’t want to have a baby without being ready for it. So we went in, and the appointment was to explore birth control options,” she said.
Garth was requested to give a urine sample, which she did. She then waited for the results. When a medical professional emerged later to speak with her, the actress was informed she was pregnant. “My mom and I are just waiting for what she’s gonna say. And she says, ‘Well, you’re pregnant.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ And then all of a sudden, like, the cat was out of the bag.”
She continued, “I was instantly just, like, red all over. I was hot, like, sweaty. Like, I didn’t know what to do because I had — in that moment — to be honest with my mom. In the most uncomfortable situation, about the fact that I had already had sex and that I had been lying to her about it.”
The Medical Professional Got It Wrong
The actress also revealed that she hadn’t felt comfortable having this chat with her mother before the appointment and had attended under the guise of getting birth control to help with irregular periods. She was now forced to have the conversation with her mom and admit she “lied and hid the truth from her.”
This situation was undoubtedly stressful for Garth, but it could have been avoided. “It was someone else’s urine test,” Garth said. The medical professional nonchalantly informed them that the samples were mixed up. “So cut to me and my mom having this emotional, like, breakdown, and they left the room. It was just me and my mom and, like, truth time,” Garth said. She also revealed she was “furious” over the whole ordeal.
Garth is a mom to three children now, daughters: Luca, Lola, and Fiona, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Peter Facinelli.
“Omg. ha. ha love you even more!” a fan reacted to the Instagram post from the podcast. “As I sit here watching 90210 and Kelly just found out she’s pregnant lol,” another fan wrote.
