The lives of actors can seem enviable with all the glitz and glamour, but they also work hard, have busy schedules, spend time away from home, and face the constant intrusion of the media. Some unlucky stars also experience workplace injuries, and this is what happened to Scottish actor David Tennant, although the story of how he sustained his injury is particularly humorous.
David Tennant Reveals How He Was Injured
When Tennant was filming the Disney+ series “Rivals” Season 1, in which he plays the role of Television Managing Director Lord Tony Baddingham, he injured himself during one of the intimate scenes. He recalled the awkward and painful moment during an appearance on the talk show, “This Morning” on September 22.
“I was launching myself on a wooden bed at one point, and unfortunately, my knee collided with the bed frame in a rather unfortunate way. Not very sexy,” Tennant said on “This Morning.” “You can never quite tell when you’re going to fall over and embarrass yourself, can you, but you most certainly don’t want to do it whilst wearing a modesty pouch.”
The interview was shared on YouTube, allowing fans to react. “David will always be one of my favourite Actors,” a comment reads. “I like David Tennant. He’s a good actor,” another person shared.
The Future of ‘Rivals’

The series is adapted from Jilly Cooper’s book series, “The Rutshire Chronicles.” It will return for Season 2 following the immense popularity of the first season. At the time of Tennant’s interview, he revealed he was in the middle of filming “Rivals” Season 2 and was sporting his character’s hairstyle.
Tennant confirmed his character’s return and that he would be up to no good. “I’ll tell you all of the plot right now,” he teased. Then speaking of what his character would be doing, he said, “Really bad things.”
He also spoke of the success of the series, saying, “It’s bananas. We loved it. It’s been so exciting, because we didn’t quite know, there wasn’t anything else like it. And as with everything you do, you put it out there, you like it, and you hope for the best. But yeah, it really seemed to connect.”
Other stars of the show include Alex Hassell, Bella Maclean, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack, Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson, Victoria Smurfit, and Nafessa Williams. Season 2 is expected to be released in 2026.
