Jennifer Garner opened up about her divorce from Ben Affleck in an interview with Marie Claire, shared on January 7.
“The fact of it is what was hard. The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard,” she shared.
Garner revealed that she got through the divorce by leaning on her friends. “I make a big, concerted effort to see my people as much as I can, because that’s what matters …That’s where your resilience is: it’s in your relationships and in the people who carry you through,” she said.
“I’m able to co-parent at this point in time with peace and equanimity and a partnership that I didn’t know I would ever get back to,” the “Alias” star admitted.
She continued, “I think it’s important for women to know, when they think, ‘Oh, I’ll never see that, I’ll never have that feeling, I’ll never be friends with this person again,’ [that] time is the opportunity. Time is the opportunity to heal. Time is the opportunity to forgive, to move on, and to find a new way to be friends.”
Garner & Affleck Reportedly Spent Thanksgiving 2025 Together
Garner and Affleck have been able to maintain a close relationship since their divorce, with the two spending the holidays together.
“Just like last year, Jen hosted Thanksgiving at her house. Ben and his mom joined. Jen makes it very special. She’s such a great chef. She loves having her whole family together, too. Ben’s always welcome at her house,” a source told People.
The insider added, “Jen’s his biggest cheerleader. It took them years to get to this point, but Jen never gave up on him. And it’s all friendly and centered around the kids now.”
The two exes also met up ahead of Christmas to watch a play with their child, Fin, InStyle reported on December 23.
Jennifer Lopez & Garner Remain ‘Cordial’
After her split from Ben Affleck in 2024, Jennifer Garner still has a close relationship with the “Accountant” star.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Garner and Lopez aren’t exactly friendly, but they get along for the sake of their children.
“They aren’t best friends, and they’re certainly not going to be going on any girls’ trips with each other. But they respect each other and respect that their kids are friends and want the best for everyone involved,” a source shared.
The insider added, “They are cordial, but besides their kids, their small talk isn’t going to be about Ben or what they are working on. They are both OK with how their relationship stands.”
