Beloved 2000s heartthrob Michael Vartan was nearly unrecognizable during a rare sighting eight years after leaving Hollywood.
Michael Vartan Looked Unrecognizable During Rare Outing
GettyVartan, who is perhaps best known for his role as Michael Vaughn during five seasons of “Alias” in the early 2000s, was photographed out and about in Los Angeles on Monday, January 12.
The “Never Been Kissed” star, 57, almost went unnoticed during his grocery run. He wore a black hoodie and dark blue Puma athletic pants. He covered up with a Los Angeles Kings hat for a fully incognito look, as seen in photos obtained by Page Six.
Vartan’s grey beard and glasses helped keep his identity under wraps.
The France native’s posters were a staple in every teenager’s room in the early 2000s, though he hasn’t had an acting credit since he appeared in one episode of “God Friended Me” in 2018.
Did Michael Vartan Leave Hollywood?
Despite not having appeared on screen since 2018, Vartan said, “I feel like my career is just beginning,” the year prior.
“For the first part of my career, I’ve really been an insecure actor. I’ve really struggled to find ways to be good,” Vartan told KARE in February 2017. “As I get older, it’s not that I care less, but I really do. I care less about what people think about me. I care less about what I look like. I care less about things that, at the end of the day, are ultimately unimportant.”
He added, “I wish I could go back in time with what I know now and reshoot every job I ever had — I’d maybe not be better in them, but I’d have a much wider understanding of what I was doing.”
“My first day on set of ‘Never Been Kissed’ with Drew [Barrymore], my inner monologue was ‘Oh my god, I’m so nervous. Please don’t vomit on her shoes. Don’t do anything stupid!’ That’s not necessarily the best headspace to be in as an actor,” he recalled.
However, in 2021, during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” he admitted to having “feelings” for his former costar.
“[Never Been Kissed] has been a huge part of my life,” he told Barrymore. “That’s a pretty amazing thing to be a part of, and this reunion is just wonderful.”
“So, I get up to the mound [during the final scene], we embrace, and we start kissing. And you really kissed me. I mean, you really kissed me,” he said at the time. “I was not ready for it in the least. I’m a man. I was a very young man back then and, you know, I had feelings.”
