A former participant in the UK version of “Married at First Sight” has gone into great detail about what goes on in the build-up to appearing as a bride on the popular reality show.
Hair extension specialist Bianca Petronzi, now 31, who owns a successful business called Extensions Bye Bee, appeared as a late arrival on the 2023 series of MAFS UK. She found herself matched with tattooed entrepreneur JJ Slater. Despite her efforts to make the relationship work, the couple never clicked, as Slater was open about the fact he didn’t find Petronzi attractive and wasn’t prepared to compromise. Subsequently, they left the experiment before final vows.
Ahead of the highly anticipated new series of “Married at First Sight UK,” Petronzi has spoken to UK publication The Sun about her ill-fated time on the 2023 edition of the show — and it all sounds like something of a whirlwind experience for the half-Italian blonde bombshell.
Petronzi Was ‘Fast-Tracked’ Through the ‘Married at First Sight’ Process
Petronzi revealed how she was “fast-tracked” through the “Married at First Sight” process, leaving her with just 10 days to plan her wedding. That made it somewhat complicated to ensure everything was as close to perfect as she’d have liked it to be.
She told The Sun, “I put my application forward at the end of November, and from the beginning of January, I was literally fast-tracked through the process.”
It resulted in several problems — not least regarding the small matter of her wedding dress — with Petronzi continuing, “And yeah, next thing I knew, I only had 10 days to get a wedding dress. So I got told 10 days before that I was going on, and I was like, what the hell? What do I do? Like, I can’t get alterations. I can’t do anything.”
The dress she ended up wearing wasn’t what she would have chosen had she been given longer to decide. Petronzi openly stated, “That’s why I ended up with what I had, because it was literally the only thing that would just fit straight on.”
Petronzi also revealed some details about how her “Married at First Sight” wedding dress was acquired, the methodology behind how her wedding venue was chosen, and her current feelings towards her ex-husband Slater.
MAFS UK Contestants Are Given an ‘Allowance’ to Spend
Petronzi explained to The Sun that “Married at First Sight” provided her with the funds to purchase her dress. She said, “We was given an allowance from the show, and they then just send you money, and then you buy your wedding dress, your wedding shoes, etc.”
She then explained how the location for her wedding was chosen, telling the publication, “I think between you and the person you’re marrying. I think they sort of decide where the location is going to be for the wedding, based on whether there’s more guests for you or more guests for them. Because JJ had more guests than I did, the wedding was literally down [in] London.”
Slater, 33, is now in a relationship with British glamor model Katie Price, 47, formerly known by the pseudonym Jordan. Petronzi revealed to The Sun that she isn’t angry with him for leaving her on the show. She said, “I don’t have any bad blood towards him, you know, I’m very happy for him and Katie. He seems to be very happy with her, so I’m happy that he’s found someone who he can grow a life with and have experiences with.”
Peeking at Petronzi’s Instagram account, where her popularity has seen her amass a whopping 105,000 followers, would suggest she’s been living her best life since leaving the show. She looks great and is often seen smiling and vacationing in sunny locations. We wish her all the best for the future.
“Married at First Sight UK” returns to the small screen for its tenth series on E4 on Sunday, September 21 at 9 p.m. GMT. It can also be viewed around the world by anyone with access to the Channel 4 video on demand service.
