PHOTOS: The ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ Cast Then & Now

Ivan Reitman’s “My Super Ex-Girlfriend” is a superhero movie with a difference. Originating from the mind of “The Simpsons” writer Don Payne, it isn’t based on any pre-existing material from a Marvel or DC comic book — or from any form of pre-existing material or comic book, for that matter.

The romantic comedy tells the story of a regular guy dumping his superhero girlfriend, only for her subsequent resentment and jealousy to turn his life upside down.

It stars Uma Thurman as superhero G-Girl, aka Jenny Johnson, and Luke Wilson as Matt Saunders, the New York architect who dumps her. A talented cast provides Thurman and Wilson with able support.

“My Super Ex-Girlfriend” holds a fairly underwhelming 40% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but that’s perhaps harsh — it’s undoubtedly an amusing spoof of the superhero genre. It was also only a modest financial success. Having cost around $30 million to make, it grossed just over $61 million worldwide (per Box Office Mojo).

Released on July 21, 2006, the film will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. With that in mind, wouldn’t be cool to see the core cast two decades later, compared to how they looked when it hit theaters? Let’s do that right now…
