Belmont Cameli was the first leading man on the hockey romance series, “Off Campus.” The Amazon series will return for a second season, which means something for the cast’s paychecks. The actor opened up about the future of the adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s five-book series and his contract.
Belmont Cameli Addresses How Long ‘Off Campus’ Might Last
Cameli, 28, broke through by playing hockey captain Garrett Graham, who agrees to pretend to date Hannah Wells (Ella Bright). The first season was based on “The Deal,” and the following seasons will show the plot of a different book in the series.
But does that mean there will only be five seasons? The actor addressed that in an interview with NHL player Macklin Celebrini for The Hollywood Reporter.
“My business answer is Amazon optioned all the books a couple of years ago,” the actor said. “There are five books in the first [series]. There are another four [in the second series]. In success, it could run for a long time. We all hope so.”
He revealed that not much has changed in his personal life since the show was released. Cameli has the same clothes and car. Celebrini asked if he’ll get a raise for season 2.
“Yeah,” the “Until Dawn” actor answered. “When you sign an X amount of years for a TV show, there’s one baked in there. It’s commonplace to renegotiate at a certain point.” More details about the second season have been revealed.
The ‘Off Campus’ Cast Is Filming Season 2
Amazon MGM StudiosThe Instagram page for the romance series shared a video featuring Bright and Cameli on Sept. 8 with an announcement. “We just wanted to say that we have been so overwhelmed by the response to the first season,” Cameli said. “You guys made it what it is, and we genuinely cannot thank you enough.”
Bright added, “We’re back filming season 2 right now, and we cannot wait for you to see what’s coming. Trust us, it’s gonna be worth the wait.” Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2027.
Hannah and Garrett’s story at Briar U will continue in the new episodes. But the season will be based on “The Score,” featuring Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn).
The first season already showed Allie and Dean sexily dancing at a Halloween party. It’s later revealed that they hook up with no strings attached to break Allie’s habit of hopping through relationships.
Shay Rudolph is playing Dean’s little sister, Summer. India Fowler is playing Grace Ivers in the new episodes. Kennedy told Deadline that she approves of the new cast members.
“The Grace casting is super exciting,” the author said. “I saw Antonio and India’s screen test together, and it’s like they stepped out of the books. I got chills. I loved it. I’m so excited to see her join the cast.”
Grace is the protagonist in “The Mistake” with John Logan (Antonio Cipriano). The first season overlapped with multiple books, and season 2 will most likely do the same.
