Tay Lautner is getting candid about the realities of pregnancy as she prepares to welcome her first child with husband Taylor Lautner.
During an appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the “The Squeeze” host discussed everything from discovering she was pregnant to navigating body changes and preparing for motherhood. Lautner and Cooper, who is also pregnant, bonded over how different the experience has been from what they expected.
Taylor Lautner Reveals How She Learned She Was Pregnant
Lautner explained that she and her husband were not actively trying for a baby, though they were not preventing a pregnancy either. Because she has PCOS and irregular cycles, she did not initially suspect she was expecting.
She eventually took a pregnancy test because she had a microneedling appointment, a procedure she could not undergo while pregnant. The positive result caught her by surprise, prompting her to take another test before telling her husband.
When Taylor returned home, Lautner handed him the test. She recalled that he initially asked how it happened, leading her to jokingly remind him that he knew exactly how.
Although the couple did not discover the pregnancy together, they later shared another milestone when they learned they were having a girl.
“Taylor really wants girls,” Lautner told Cooper, explaining that her husband has long envisioned himself as a “girl dad.”

The podcaster also opened up about a more complicated part of her pregnancy: adjusting to changes in her body.
Lautner said she entered pregnancy with an idealized picture shaped partly by what she had seen online. Instead, her first trimester brought nausea, food aversions and significant physical changes. She emphasized that feeling uncomfortable with pregnancy does not take away from her gratitude or excitement about becoming a mother.
After gaining approximately 12 to 15 pounds within a few weeks, Lautner remembered looking in the mirror and struggling to recognize herself. Sharing those feelings publicly prompted an especially strong response from other women who had experienced similar emotions.
Lautner has also become more conscious of how freely people comment on pregnant women’s bodies. She and Cooper discussed how remarks about weight, appearance and pregnancy “glow” can feel different when someone is already adjusting to rapid physical changes.
Taylor Lautner Is Supporting His Wife Through the Changes
Throughout the conversation, Lautner credited her husband with helping her navigate the experience.
She recalled describing herself as a “big pregnant lady” while discussing spending time at the lake. Her husband immediately reframed it, telling her she was simply a “pregnant lady.”
“I need to talk to myself that way more,” she said.
Pregnancy has also encouraged Lautner, who described herself as highly independent, to rely more on her husband. She said the experience has allowed their partnership to evolve as he supports her through moments when she cannot handle everything herself.
As she prepares for her daughter’s arrival, Lautner said she hopes that speaking openly about both the joyful and difficult sides of pregnancy can help other women feel more prepared for the experience.
