In the world of “Survivor,” there’s one undeniable truth: after weeks of living off rice, crawling through mud and sweating through shirts, nobody’s getting voted off for smelling like roses. Thankfully, series legend “Boston Rob” Mariano is here to help as the face of Degree deodorant’s new Cool Rush campaign.
Boston Rob is the New Face of Degree’s Cool Rush Deodorant
The former five-time castaway took to social media on Friday (Sept. 26) to show off his latest commercial for the global personal care brand, donning his classic “Survivor” ensemble – complete with a machete and a cocnut – to promote the deodorant that can keep even the most odiforous of castaways smelling their best.
“For when you need to stay fresh and cool under pressure,” said Mariano, holding up a can of Degree’s Cool Rush deodorant on the beach. “And believe me, I’ve been in enough tough situations to know. In my experience, Degree is the partner I trust to get me through to the end.”
While Boston Rob’s latest alliance with Degree leans heavily on his “Survivor” history in its setting and script, the former castaway really drives the connection home by sporting the exact same outfit he wore on “Survivor: Island of the Idols.” Complete with red board shorts and a black tank top, Mariano accented the ensemble with the same gold necklace and “Survivor” buff he donned on the 2019 season. Only his trademark baseball cap – usually emblazoned with the Boston Red Sox logo – was altered, now embroidered with the Degree logo instead.

Boston Rob Partnered with the Brand Earlier This Year
Boston Rob originally partnered with Degree in May 2025 to revamp their Cool Rush scent. The collaboration came after a formula change led fans to create a Change.org petition demanding that the original scent be restored.
In Mariano’s first commercial for the company, he addressed the widespread consumer complaints about the formula change in a “Godfather” inspired ad, revealing that Degree had restored the fan favorite scene to its former glory.
“Let’s just say, I made them an offer they couldn’t refuse,” said Mariano. “It’s back. You’re welcome.”
Fans React to Boston Rob’s Latest Gig
While a far cry from his recent appearances on series like “The Traitors” and “Deal or No Deal Island,” Boston Rob’s fans have been eating up his latest venture on social media.
“Oh how I love to see a baddie getting paaaaid,” wrote “Survivor 46” winner Kenzie Petty in the comments section of Mariano’s latest ad. Meanwhile, Rob’s “Traitors” co-star Chrishell Stause added, “Ok sold!”
“Boston Rob approved is good enough for me,” wrote one fan, while another added, “Anytime Boston Rob is featured, hosting, participating..etc. I’m watching!”
While the ad is pure, nostalgic fun for “Survivor” fans, it has similarly proved effective, with plenty of viewers saying that they’re making the switch to Degree from their favorite brands after seeing Boston Rob’s collaboration.
“I’m a Dove guy, but idk.. If there’s one person to cross me over, you mighta hired the right one,” wrote one fan, while another added, “I’ll buy @degree for my husband bc I love and trust @bostonrobmariano.”
