Is CBS Finally Staging a ‘Survivor’ vs. Big Brother’ Reality TV Showdown?

Since the dawn of the new millenium, CBS has reinvented the landscape of reality TV with its trio of Emmy-winning competition series – “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race.”

Over the last 26 years, however, only “The Amazing Race,” which premiered one year after its sister series in 2001, has been brave enough to stage official showdowns featuring contestants from each respective franchise.

While a handful of former “Survivor” stars have gone on to compete on “Big Brother,” there’s yet to be an official crossover between the two series, in spite of consistent cries from fans to make the reality TV dream, well, a reality.

Until now, that is. According to new rumors from prominent insider accounts @TheBigBroTea and @realitytv_fan on Instagram, an official “Survivor” vs. “Big Brother” showdown, reportedly titled “Stacks for Cash” – is currently in production at CBS. Here’s everything we know so far.

Everything We Know About CBS’s New ‘Stacks For Cash’ Series

Taylor HaleCBS
Taylor Hale is the first Black woman to ever win “Big Brother,” and is also the first-ever houseguest to both win the show and the title of America’s Favorite Houseguest.

Rumors of an official “Survivor” vs. “Big Brother” showdown originally began after @TheBigBroTea reported that “Big Brother” Season 24 winner Taylor Hale and Season 27’s Keanu Soto were spotted in Portugal at the same time.

While the coincidence originally led fans to speculate that the duo were dating, insider @realitytv_fan debunked the rumor, claiming instead that Hale and Soto were on location to film a new CBS project featuring alumni from both “Big Brother” and “Survivor.”

“The rumor going around on social media right now about CBS alumni filming something in Portugal is for a new trivia game show for CBS called Stacks For Cash or something like that,” the insider wrote on their Instagram Stories on Friday, May 29, adding that the supposed showdown between the series will be featured as “just one episode” of the new series.

“The show sounds similar to Raid the Cage or Candy Crush but, like, weirdly more complicated,” they continued. “CBS wanted an episode of Survivor vs Big Brother so they got 3 Survivor and 3 Big Brother alumni for it (there are more than 3 names of each floating around, one of each are an alternate on location.)”

In a secondary post on Instagram, @realitytv_fan reported that “Stacks For Cash” will challenge contestants to “stack blocks on a tower by answering trivia questions.”

Which ‘Big Brother’ & ‘Survivor’ Stars Are Set to Compete?

While CBS has yet to confirm rumors of the new series, or which former houseguests and castaways will appear, @realitytv_fan speculated that the cast will consist of “Big Brother” stars Taylor Hale (Season 24 winner), Keanu Soto (Season 27) and Rubina Bernabe (Season 26), and “Survivor” stars Cirie Fields (Seasons 14, 16, 20, 24 & 50), Sam Phalen (Season 47) and Rizo Velovic (Seasons 49 & 50).

Similar to Hale and Soto, Rizo and Cirie were spotted in a Portugal airport by fans around the same time as their “Big Brother” counterparts, seemingly confirming their participation in the all-new CBS reality competition series.

Apparently, however, the “Big Brother” vs. “Survivor” showdown will comprise only a single episode of the new series, with the remainder of the episodes featuring other contestants.

While “Survivor 49” runner-up Sophi Balerdi and “Big Brother 26” winner Chelsie Baham were also spotted in Portugal last week, rumors suggest that they will not appear on the showdown episode, but instead on other installments of the series alongside other as-yet unnamed participants.

“Let’s go Taylor, Rubina and Chelsie!!!” wrote one CBS fan in the comments of @realitytv_fan’s cast reveal, showing support for Team “Big Brother.”

Meanwhile, another fan voiced their support for Team “Survivor,” writing: “Sam, Cirie and Rizo against 3 chops oh Survivor better take it.”

Stay tuned for more updates on CBS’s “Stacks For Cash” as they become available.
