Dylan Efron is coming off a career-defining year, and it’s already shaping how he sees his future. After winning “The Traitors” season 3 and dancing his way to the finale on “Dancing With the Stars,” the content creator says spending time with “Survivor” legend Boston Rob Mariano has him thinking seriously about fatherhood.
In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Efron reflected on their growing friendship, Mariano’s influence as a devoted dad, and why this moment feels less like a finish line and more like the beginning of his next chapter.
‘Excited for That Next Chapter’
Efron talked with PEOPLE at the 2025 iHeartRadio 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball. Of course, Dylan and Boston Rob recently launched a YouTube series called “Everything’s a Competition,” which means the duo has been spending even more time together.
That time together has Efron starting to think about becoming a dad. Boston Rob is the father of four girls (Lucia, Carina, Isabetta, and Adelina) with his wife, Amber Mariano, whom he met while competing against her during “Survivor: All-Stars” in 2004.
While Boston Rob isn’t pushing Efron to become a father, Dylan says spending time with Mariano has him “excited for that next chapter.”
Efron said, “It all started with Olivia.” Of course, Olivia is his younger sister, with whom he clearly has a very close relationship. He even brought her out on “Dancing With the Stars” this season, performing his Dedication Night dance with her.
He continued to praise Boston Rob, saying, “He’s an amazing dad. It shows in everything he does.”
Family Support During ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Run
Dylan was very shy when it came to appearing on “Dancing With the Stars” season 34. His nerves were definitely present during the first few weeks of the show, but he eventually knocked those walls down and made it to the finals.
When talking with PEOPLE, he said the support of his family, including his little sister, helped him get through that season.
Efron said, “I was able to look at myself on stage through [my sister] Olivia’s eyes and be like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is pretty cool.'”
What’s Next for Dylan Efron?
As 2025 comes to an end, we all start looking at what the new year will bring us and reflecting on what the past year has brought us.
Efron said, “Gosh, I feel so lucky. This year has been incredible. So I’m not even going to try to separate it. Let’s just keep going.”
He’s going to keep that momentum going, which includes working on the show with Boston Rob. No mention of fatherhood kicking off in 2026, but it’s definitely in Dylan’s future plans.
