Shock at Camp
The winning team is still at camp, waiting for the losing team to come back from Tribal Council. They think it will be either Sophie or Rizo voted out. They are shocked when the castaways come back and find out that MC was voted off.
Christina is upset that MC is gone, plus Rizo didn’t have to use his idol. She said it was the worst-case scenario. Sophie is upset that everyone was shocked she came back and not MC. She is thinking she can’t trust anyone, and is a free agent on “Survivor” season 49.
Rizo, Soph, and Savannah talk, and they feel good about things. Savannah has an extra vote, Rizo has the Immunity Idol, and Soph has the Power is Knowledge advantage, but they don’t know about that. They are sitting pretty, though.
Finding New Alliances on ‘Survivor’
Steven feels he lost his partner in MC, so he tries to cement his alliance with Sage. He tells her that they went idol hunting and Christina found one, which he said she said was for the three of them. Sage wants to tell Jawan, but she wants to build trust with Steven.
Now we see Soph, Sophie, and Savannah head out. Sophie is hurt and feeling isolated. Soph wants to work with her and add her to their three and get out some big names.
It seems like there are two groups right now: Sage/Jawan and Soph/Savannah/Rizo. Alex said he’s in the middle and trying to figure out which way to go. He tries to cement something with Rizo and Savannah, but Rizo doesn’t seem to be falling for it, thinking he is playing both sides.
Reward Challenge
The nine remaining castaways make their way to see Jeff Probst. For this challenge, they will divide into teams of four. They will then move a big metal cube through a series of obstacles. The teams will then work through more obstacles to get three rings. They will then have to toss those rings onto a pole. Once on the pole, they win. The winning team will get a reward back at camp, which will be fried chicken, French fries, soda and lemonade, cheesecake, and blueberries. They draw for teams:
- Blue Team – Christina, Sophie, Alex, and Savannah
- Yellow Team – Rizo, Sage, Steven, and Jawan
Soph was not picked, so she got to pick a winner. If they win, she gets the reward too. She chose the Yellow Team as the winner. Both teams get to the rings, and it’s a matter of who can hit that pole first. It’s the Blue Team that gets all their rings first, so they will get the reward.
Before they leave, Christina offers to trade her spot with Jawan. He hasn’t eaten anything all season, so she wants him to eat. A very kind gesture, but he doesn’t want to accept it. He says he wants to earn it. They both have to agree to it, which Jawan eventually does, and now he gets to eat!
A Touching Moment
The four castaways enjoy their reward. Jawan talks about his own life and how he has always had to be a provider. Because of that, he didn’t want to accept the reward, but he’s glad he did. He is feeling refreshed.
Meanwhile, they then start talking about working together. They all talk about possibly working together and being open to it. They all say they want to do it, but Jawan seems to be thinking he is playing them all.
At camp, the chickens are talking to Steven. Christina and Sage talk, and they said the time has to be now to get either Rizo or Savannah out of the game. They need to flush Rizo’s idol. Christina then talks to Soph and tells her the plan to go after Rizo and Savannah. However, she is working with them, and no one knows.
Something About Being Loyal on ‘Survivor’ 49
The castaways return to camp, and Soph immediately talks to Savannah and tells her the plan is to split the votes on them. Meanwhile, they haven’t even gone to the Immunity Challenge, but are talking about who to vote for!
Savannah and Soph have a moment, as Savannah feels safe with Soph. She tells her that she used to be a reporter, so they are forming a strong alliance. They then tell Rizo the plan and the split vote. He wants to get Alex out, but Savannah said she doesn’t trust Jawan and Sage. Rizo then goes around to badmouth Alex, and gets people to vote him out and create a target on his back.
Immunity Challenge
For this challenge, they will use their feet to press against a disc. They have to hold that disc in place. If it falls, they are out. The last woman and the last man to leave their disc in place will win immunity tonight on “Survivor” season 49, so we have two winners tonight.
For the first 10 minutes, the players can hold the structure they are sitting on or their legs. After 10 minutes, they can hold onto nothing. The first 10 minutes are counting down, and we see Rizo drop his disc and then Christina drops hers shortly after.
Things are quiet, so Savannah asks Steven to give them space facts. He starts spitting them out, and the castaways are glad he filled in the space. Sage drops out right before they switch to the second stage, where they can’t hold onto anything.
It comes down to Jawan versus Steven, and a repeat of Savannah versus Sophie. Jawan was struggling and dropped out, so Steven won immunity. The women are still going strong. They made it over 40 minutes, and Savannah said multiple times she wasn’t dropping. She was correct, as Sophie dropped first, and Savannah won immunity for the second week in a row.
What’s the Plan Now?
The plan was to split the vote between Savannah and Rizo, but Savannah won, and that plan can’t work. They decide that Soph is collateral damage because of Savannah winning. They want to flush Rizo’s idol, regardless.
Rizo thinks he’s gotten the majority to vote out Alex. He wants to keep his idol another week, but he thinks he needs to convince Jawan and Sage to do that. Sophie seems to be playing both sides. Jawan is trying to convince Alex to vote out Rizo, so he tells him that Rizo is throwing out his name. Now Alex wants Rizo out.
Sage thinks Alex is playing both sides and is dangerous, so she wants him gone first. It looks like it’s going to come down to Rizo or Alex tonight at Tribal.
Tribal Council on ‘Survivor’ Season 49
The castaways say there was a lot of talk at camp after today’s Immunity Challenge. Rizo said there is a lot of fluidity going on, as people who haven’t worked together before are now seeming to work together. Rizo talks about his idol and how people may want to flush it, since they all know he has it. The talk, like usual, is all over the place, but it’s time to vote.
Results: Jeff tallies the votes. Rizo keeps his idol again. The votes are: Soph, Rizo, Alex, Soph, Alex, Alex, Alex, and Alex. That’s five votes for Alex, so he has been voted off “Survivor” tonight. He jokes as he leaves that he knew it, and it’s what he gets for playing both sides. They all laugh as he asks if they all just talk to each other?
CBSWhat do you think of the results on “Survivor” season 49 tonight?

Ugh! Savannah again. I’m fresh over her. Her arrogance is so annoying. I find myself checking Facebook during the show because I can’t stand watching her any longer.
Agreed she needs to go. My big complaint about suvivor lately (I’ve watched since the beginning) is they don’ figure out how to make fire without a flint PRIOR TO GOING ON SURVIVOR!!! WTH???
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Been thinking this for years!!
Totally agree.
Rizzo super bugs me, why have they not gotten wise to his lying….
