Joe Amabile is giving fans another look at his recovery after undergoing brain surgery.
The “Bachelor in Paradise” alum, affectionately known as “Grocery Store Joe,” appeared in a new social media video with his wife, Serena Pitt, as doctors removed 23 stitches from his head.
The video was shared on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Pitt asked her husband how the procedure felt as the stitches were taken out.
Amabile Is on the Road to Recovery
“How does it feel, Joe?” she asked.
Amabile, 40, appeared remarkably calm as he responded that the process “feels, kind of, like nothing.”
“It doesn’t really feel like anything,” he added.
Fans were quick to cheer on the reality star as he continues to heal.
“You’ve got this Joe!” one person commented.
Another wrote, “Joe must be protected at all times.”
“I’ve seen grown men have jump out of their seat for staple removals so you are a just a tough one!!!” another fan joked.
Others sent Amabile messages of support, including, “Praying for speedy recovery” and “Looking good Joe.”
The latest update comes just days after Amabile and Pitt gave followers a glimpse at the scar left behind by his surgery.
The Couple Has Been Documenting His Heath Journey
On Saturday, Aug. 15, the couple shared a video using a bit of Harry Potter humor. Pitt lip-synced a line about the famous scar belonging to Harry Potter before Amabile lifted his black baseball cap to reveal a thin but noticeable scar stretching across his hairline.
Amabile previously revealed that he underwent surgery earlier this month to have a brain tumor removed.
On Aug. 12, one week after the procedure, the reality star shared a more detailed update about how he was feeling.
“I’m back. It’s been a full week since my surgery. Recovery has been really great, for the most part,” Amabile said in an Instagram video.
He acknowledged that the early part of his recovery came with some challenges, particularly when it came to speaking.
“I think I struggled at the beginning with speaking. Just like knowing what to say but not being able to say it,” he explained.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant also dealt with pain following the operation but said he had already made progress by the time he recorded the update.
“But it’s been a full week. I’m off Oxy. I’m off all the painkillers. I take a few Tylenol here and there,” he said.
Pitt Has Been Right By His Side
Pitt has remained by her husband’s side throughout his recovery. On Aug. 9, she shared photos from his time in the hospital and expressed gratitude toward his medical team.
“Incredibly grateful to the team at NYU Langone Health for their endless patience, care, compassion and kindness these past few days,” Pitt wrote on Instagram. “Joe is [now] home recovering, and we’re so grateful to have been in such good hands.”
Now, with his stitches removed, Amabile appears to be taking another encouraging step forward in his recovery.
