Bachelor Nation’s Joe Amabile Shows Off Brain Surgery Scar: Video

Bachelor Nation’s Joe Amabile is giving fans another look at his recovery after undergoing brain surgery.

The “Bachelor in Paradise” alum, affectionately known as “Grocery Store Joe,” appeared in a sweet social media video with his wife, Serena Pitt, on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The couple used a little Harry Potter humor to address the scar left behind by his recent procedure.

In the video, Pitt, 28, lip-synced a line about a famous scar from the wizarding franchise. Joe, 40, then shyly lifted his black baseball cap to reveal a thin but noticeable scar stretching across his hairline.

Fans Couldn’t Get Enough of the Video

The lighthearted moment quickly drew support from fans, who appreciated seeing the couple find some humor during a difficult time.

“Love this! Little Harry Potter humor to bring some light to ‘the scar!’” one person wrote.

“Laughter & love. The best medicine!” another fan commented.

Others praised the couple’s relationship and noted how sweet it was to see Pitt supporting her husband through his recovery.

The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant previously gave fans a more detailed update on his health on Aug. 12, one week after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor.

“I’m back. It’s been a full week since my surgery. Recovery has been really great, for the most part,” he said in an Instagram video.

Amabile explained that he initially struggled with speaking following the procedure.

“I think I struggled at the beginning with speaking. Just like knowing what to say but not being able to say it,” he said.

He also experienced pain following the surgery but said his recovery had progressed enough that he was no longer taking prescription pain medication.

“But it’s been a full week. I’m off Oxy. I’m off all the painkillers. I take a few Tylenol here and there,” he shared.

Amabile also revealed that doctors had given him a “fairly good” prognosis. According to the reality star, doctors diagnosed him with a low-grade astrocytoma, a type of brain tumor.

Both Have Been Open With Fans on His Heath Journey

Pitt has remained by Joe’s side throughout the process. On Aug. 9, she shared a series of photos from his time in the hospital, including several pictures taken after his procedure.

“A few peaceful moments from the hospital 🤍 Incredibly grateful to the team at NYU Langone Health for their endless patience, care, compassion and kindness these past few days,” Pitt wrote.

She also confirmed that Joe had returned home to continue his recovery.

“Joe is [now] home recovering, and we’re so grateful to have been in such good hands,” she added.

The couple first met while filming Season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. Their relationship continued after the show, eventually leading to marriage.

Joe announced in July that he was preparing to undergo brain surgery, prompting an outpouring of support from Bachelor Nation fans.

Now, as he continues healing at home, Joe and Serena are sharing occasional glimpses of the journey while keeping the mood as positive as possible.
