Jessica Simpson Responds to Buzz Around Being the Next Bachelorette

Jessica Simpson once opened up her marriage with Nick Lachey to the world via the reality TV series, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” which premiered in August 2003 and ended in March 2005. Does that mean she’d be willing to find a new romance on another show? Perhaps as the next star of “The Bachelorette.”

Simpson became single again following the January 2025 announcement of her split from her now-ex-husband, former NFL star Eric Johnson, after 10 years of marriage.

In the time since, buzz has surrounded the singer when it comes to the possibility that she’d be the next Bachelorette.

However, when TMZ caught up with Simpson recently at LAX, she revealed that she’s not interested in the romantic reality TV role.

“I have options, I’m good,” she stated.

When it comes to Simpson’s romantic life after her split from Johnson, she may not need help from “The Bachelorette” for one specific reason. This is one single star who knows what she wants from a potential partner. That happens to be someone who is younger than her.

“I think I’m into younger men at the moment,” she told Extra in October 2025.

The star also revealed something she’s learned about men who aren’t as old as her, saying, “I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older women, I’m discovering.”

As for the role that romance is playing in her life these days, she noted, “I am having fun!”

Simpson and Johnson were married on July 5, 2014, and share three children — Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6. Although the marriage didn’t last, the pair are commited to co-parenting their children in a positive way.

When the former couple’s split was first announced in January 2025, Simpson released a statement about the status of her relationship with Johnson, telling People, “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”

“Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them,” the star continued in her statement. “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

The duo has kept to their word and are often spotted together as they parent their children together.

  1. Like her attitude re: her confidence, but my goodness what did she do to her face?! I will never understand why Hollywood people think this distorted plastic doll with puffy lips is a good look? Gives new meaning to “the aliens are among us!”
