Katie Thurston Reveals New Relationship Milestone With Jeff Acuri Amid Cancer Battle

Since going public with her battle against breast cancer in February 2025, former “Bachelorette” star Katie Thurston has been a beacon of love, hope and perseverance on social media.

But while a lot of content continues to be sharing her cancer battle, and the biggest decisions, worries and procedures that go along with it, she also continues to share sweet moments with her husband, comedian Jeff Acuri. And, most recently, a major milestone is unlocking a whole new chapter for the couple.

Katie Thurston and Jeff Acuri Have Bought a House

On Instagram, Thurston shared an adorable video of herself, Acuri and their dog in their brand-new house.

“🏡 Life update: @jarcuri and I bought a house!” she wrote in the caption. “But not just any house, but one that will require a lot TLC to get her ready.”

As a result, Thurston and Acuri are getting ready for a major home renovation project. “This is a huge project we will be documenting over the next year with the help of @salacuse and @jaedon.meek !” the caption continued. “This is just the beginning as we create our demo plan with the help of @re_design_architects .”

“Join the Demo Diaries (in bio) for inside scoops and conversations and stay tuned for the future YouTube series to be dropped,” Thurston added.

In the clip, a heartwarming voiceover shows just how happy the two are feeling in their new home. “This part of my life, this little part, is called happiness,” the audio says.

In the comment section, fans are so happy for the couple, who tied the knot over a year ago in March 2025. “AHHHHHH!!!!! It’s so so good,” wrote one commenter. “Can’t wait for the Reno/decorating strategy sessions with the gals🩷❤️💃🏻.”

“YAYYYY CONGRATS❤️❤️❤️,” echoed another excited follower.

Katie Thurston’s Breast Cancer Battle

Prior to sharing her and Acuri’s big news, Thurston has been candid with her followers about choosing to get a double mastectomy in her fight for cancer. Last month, she revealed that after a few complications, the surgery has to be postponed for her to recover. It is now scheduled for April 29.

“Taking a break… My cancer treatment consists of a Lupron injection, daily Letrozole pill, and three weeks on Kisqali, one week off for recovery,” Thurston wrote in a carousel on Instagram at the time. “I am closely monitored to determine dose reductions or extended breaks. In January, I took a one month mediation break to allow my elevated AST and ALT (liver) to recover. Then went back on, first at 200mg for one cycle, then 400mg for the next. Two weeks into my latest cycle, we retested, and required yet another break for my liver. Unfortunately the recovery is taking longer than hoped.”

“My double mastectomy… I have surgery scheduled April 29th for the removal of both my breasts (DMX),” she continued. “This surgery was already rescheduled once and I won’t delay it again.”

“Because of the timing of my medication break and liver recovery and the date of my surgery which also requires pausing Kisqali, I’ll continue to pause treatment for another two months,” she said. “My hormone suppression (lupron/ letrozole) does a lot of the heavy lifting in my cancer treatment and won’t be paused. Removing the tumor will also be beneficial to my fight against cancer.”

Thurston went on to say that she’ll be taking a break from social media to balance her physical and mental health, noting that keeping herself as focused as possible in body and brain will help achieve greater overall health.

“Going offline… I’m going to take a week offline to focus on my health and habits. It’s easy to doom scroll which has an impact on physical health and mental health. Maybe I’ll actually get those 10k steps in. Or those 8 hours of sleep. Maybe l’ll get back to better meal prepping. Or working out,” she wrote. “I’m not trying to be dramatic in announcing my time away. I’m ok. I’m going to be ok. Just need a reset. And in case any of those bot accounts announce l’m 💀 I am not.”

Thurston ended her update with a big bird flip to cancer, writing, “Thank you for your love and support. [Expletive] cancer.” Her surgery is now only a few days away.
