“The Voice” contestants are people of all ages and walks of life, looking for a chance to get closer to their dream. Some get a chair turn immediately from a coach, while others find themselves being fought over by all four. But not everyone gets a chair turn, and while that news is upsetting to everyone, it’s devastating for some.
Myra Tran is a 26-year-old who lives in Santa Ana, California. Born in Vietnam, her family moved to the U.S. when she was 18, and opened a restaurant named after her: Myra’s.
“The Voice’ is my dream, my American dream,” she said in her pre-show introduction on the October 8 episode. Unfortunately, Myra didn’t get a chair turn for her performance of Clean Bandit’s “Symphony.” Seeing that she was visibly upset. Snoop Dogg quickly came to the rescue, assuring her that she shouldn’t give up.
Snoop Dogg Offers Tissues & Encouragement to Disappointed Contestant
“Myra, Myra on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?” Snoop said to Myra, making her smile despite her tears. “The song sounded good. It’s just not what I’m looking for,” the rapper, 53, said after her audition. “But I think you did a great job performing it, and you have the skill set to actually be great.”
After Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé finished talking, Snoop walked out with a handful of tissues. He handed them to her and gave her a big hug. “You did amazing,” he told her.
“‘The Voice’ was my dream when I was just a little child, and I want to make my family and my country proud of me,” she told him.
“You made them all proud today,” he assured her. “It takes a lot to come up here as a performer. So you made your family proud, you made your country proud. Sometimes it’s not always about winning. Sometimes that L is a lesson. It’s not a loss. It’s a lesson.”
Niall Praises Snoop Dogg After Heart‑Warming Support for Myra
“Snoop Dogg is a man with a huge heart,” Niall said in a voiceover. “The way he dealt with the scenario of Myra. It’s incredible to see.”
“We want to make sure them people leave here with high self-esteem,” he told Reba after Myra left. “What we don’t want them to do is leave here and they feeling low and down.”
Snoop Dogg has been cultivating a reputation as one of the more compassionate and big-hearted coaches on “The Voice.” During Season 26, he shocked his fellow coaches when he was brought to tears not once, but twice during the Blind Auditions. His kind and thoughtful words and actions towards Myra have just cemented that opinion.
