“90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days” star Tyray Mollett shared some positive updates following his major transformation.
Fans of the hit TLC franchise may remember Mollett as the cast member who was catfished by a Barbadian woman named Carmella, who was later revealed to be a man named Christian. Mollett lost thousands of dollars to the four-year fake relationship.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the reality star admitted that the incident has left him emotionally vulnerable.
“After the whole situation…I kind of was like, I don’t trust anyone,” he told the outlet. “I have relationship issues, trust issues and all that.”
Still, Mollett said the experience “helped in a huge way,” motivating him to make significant changes in his life, particularly when it came to his weight.
’90 Day Fiance’ Star Tyray Mollett Weight Loss Journey
Mollett revealed that he started gaining weight when he was a kid, calling the experience “tough.” By the time he debuted on “90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days,” he weighed 418 lbs.
In 2019, Mollett reportedly considered weight loss surgery. However, the possible side effects made him have second thoughts.
The turning point came when Mollett’s mother was hospitalized, making it difficult for him to care for both her and himself.
“My mom was in the hospital, and I’m going to check on her, and I’m out of breath,” Mollett told the outlet. “I’m like, wow, this isn’t good. I can’t take care of her and myself. So I told myself I have to make some changes.”
Tyray Mollett Gets Hair Transplant
In February 2025, Mollett underwent gastric sleeve surgery. However, the rapid change triggered hair loss, which further worsened his existing hairline issues.
“My hair started thinning when I was 21, so I was really young, and the edges were coming out,” Mollett said, adding that his goal was to get a “new hairline” with fullness.
The “90 Day Fiance” star later underwent a hair transplant, getting 2,500 grafts to address his hair loss.
Now, Mollett has adopted a haircare routine, and although the results have yet to fully settle, he says he feels more confident in himself than ever.
“It has inspired me to put myself back out there,” he told the outlet. “I am looking to date now. I’m not so scared. I don’t feel like I’m a scary beast anymore.”
Mollett is also now considering other cosmetic work, including tightening loose skin.
“Funny story, while I was actually in Atlanta getting the hair transplant, [the clinic] wanted to do my neck,” the TLC reality star shared.
For now, however, he wants to undergo procedures to address his chest and stomach while aiming to lose another 45 pounds.
As for a potential return to “90 Day Fiance,” Mollett admitted that he’s keeping the door open to the possibility.
“I love traveling, so I think that’d be a good experience to do it again, since last time I kind of got duped out of it,” he added. “I have been hanging out with other ’90 Day’ cast members, so they’ve been pushing me out there too.”
