The Caldwell family has broken their silence amid the ongoing drama surrounding eldest daughter Kendra Duggar and her husband, Joseph Duggar.
The Caldwell Family Releases Statement
Paul and Christina Caldwell shared their first statement about the situation in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, April 15.
“Our family is both troubled and heartbroken over the alleged actions committed by our son-in-law. We are devastated for the young girl, a child who was courageous in every way to share her truth. We stand by her, both in support and prayer, and forever will,” the statement began. “Our love for this child remains at the forefront of our family’s priorities and minds. We are proud of her for being strong enough to share her story while also retaining her own identity and joy.”
The couple continued, “We pray all victims of crimes can be as courageous as this young girl is. They should be able to share their story, to trust in the judicial process, and to do so without fear of retaliation. You are not alone.”
The Caldwells, who share nine children together, went on to share their concern for their four grandchildren.
“We also recognize how traumatic this incident has been for our grandchildren as well, and continue to pray for their strength. Our love for them, and our daughter Kendra, remains,” the statement read. “We believe in a God who is just and loving. One who loves all of His children, especially the vulnerable and innocent.”
Paul and Christina thanked their fans for their “outpouring of love and prayer.”
“The only way to freedom is to shine light in the darkness,” they wrote. “At this time, we have no further comment and request privacy.”
The Caldwells Launch a GoFundMe
In light of recent events, the family has decided to rapidly relocate. While it’s unclear exactly why they need to uproot the family, Paul launched a GoFundMe to help raise funds to aid in their move.
“My family is facing a difficult and urgent situation. We are in need to cover displacement expenses.we will not be using these funds for are legal expenses,” he shared on the fundraiser’s page. “Thank you all so much for your care, concern, prayers and donation during this difficult time. Thank you even if it’s just prayer. Your support means the world to us as we work to rebuild and find safety.”
According to the father of nine, all funds raised for the family will go towards “moving expenses, housing costs such as rent until we can find a place to stay more permanently.”
