‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 13 Episode 5 Brings New Evidence in Fire Case

According to Hallmark Channel’s official synopsis, “New evidence comes to light that shifts the fire investigation. Elizabeth and her classroom start a project that will impact the territory for generations to come.”

Nathan Grant and Bill Avery remain focused on determining what caused the wildfire, which displaced families from Benson Hills and created tension between communities. While previous suspects have been cleared, episode 5 introduces new information that could shift the case’s direction.

At the same time, Elizabeth begins a classroom project to help her students understand Hope Valley’s future. The storyline adds a new focus beyond the fire, giving viewers a look at how the town continues moving forward.

What Happened in WCTH Season 13 Episode 4?

Season 13 episode 4, titled “Until Proven Guilty,” centered on Cooper Canfield and Toby Walsh admitting they accidentally started a campfire.

Nathan confirmed the boys would be included in his report but would not face charges due to their age. Bill later cleared A.J. McGinty after learning he had been burying his cat, not carrying fuel into the forest.

A town hall meeting highlighted growing frustration from Benson Hills residents, while Elizabeth encouraged unity between the two communities.

Minnie Canfield began selling jam to prepare for possible legal costs, and Cooper briefly considered leaving home to help his family before Minnie reassured him.

During Oliver’s birthday celebration, Cooper and Toby publicly shared their role in starting the fire, and community members chose compassion.

Lucas Bouchard announced plans to run again for governor and pledged to rebuild Benson Hills within one year. Lee Coulter shared plans to expand his lumber business into construction and later offered to build McGinty a cabin as a model home.

The episode ended with Rosemary presenting McGinty with a new kitten as Lee’s crew began work on the cabin.

Season 13, episode 5, continues the investigation while shifting the focus to Elizabeth’s classroom initiative.

“When Calls the Heart” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.
