David Boreanaz Shares Emotional Tribute To Beloved ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Co-Star Nicholas Brendon

Many stars of the hit television show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which aired from 1997 to 2003, have posted heartfelt tributes to Nicolas Brendon, who passed away on Friday, March 20, at the age of 54. And that includes David Boreanaz, who played the vampire Angel.

Boreanaz took to Instagram, sharing a old photo of himself and Brendon, while reflecting on the legacy the late actor left.

“There are people you work with and then there are people you share time with,” he said. “Nick was the latter. Some moments stay small on paper, a laugh between takes, a look that says we got this, the quiet understanding of showing up and doing the work together. But those are the things that last.”

“He carried something real, not perfect, not polished, just real,” Boreanaz continued. “And in this business, that matters more than most things. We don’t always get to choose how long someone stays in the story, only that they were here. And he was …Rest easy Brother. Some people leave a mark without trying.”

“‘They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen,’” Gellar wrote, quoting Brendon’s character in the show. “‘To live so near to the spotlight, and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes, because nobody’s watching me.’”

“I saw you Nicky,” she added. “I know you are at peace, in that big rocking chair in the sky.”

Along with Hannigan, Gellar, and Boreanaz, Emma Caulfield Ford, who joined “Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ during the third season and portrayed Brenden’s love interest Anya Jenkins, shared a video of Brendon on her Instagram story.

“No words yet,” she wrote. “I love you Nicky. Let this clip of us giving it our best be a placeholder. Rest Nicky. Rest. 💔 Anya.”
