Living with breast cancer is never an easy road, and for many women, the journey after a mastectomy is filled with both hardships and incredible strength. For Nicole Eggert, that experience is deeply personal. The 53-year-old “Baywatch” alum revealed she underwent a mastectomy with reconstructive surgery on August 28.
Just six days later, she shared that she is courageously starting to feel like herself again.

Eggert’s Breast Cancer Diagnosis
(Photo by Leon Bennett/Getty Images)Eggert has been open about her health battle since being diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December 2023. In January 2024, she told People magazine that she initially sought medical help after experiencing “terrible pain” in her left breast and a sudden weight gain of 25 pounds in just three months.
“I have panics where I’m like, just get this out of me,” Eggert said at the time. “You sit there and it’s in you and you’re like, every second that passes and it’s inside of me. It’s growing, and you’re just like, you just want it out.”
Update On Her Ongoing Healing Journey
Throughout her treatment, Eggert has chosen to be transparent with fans, documenting both her physical and emotional struggles. She previously shared a video of herself shaving her head before starting chemotherapy, a moment made even more emotional with the help of her 14-year-old daughter, Keegan.
“Maybe healing involves not so much changing ourselves but allowing ourselves to be who we are,” Eggert captioned the video, quoting Madeleine Eame.
While she admits the journey has been anything but easy, Eggert continues to find strength in her supporters and her own resilience. “This journey’s been rough for me,” she has said. “This hasn’t been a breezy sail through life. I always read inspirational quotes and corny stuff, but it gets me through.”
