Carrie Underwood & Vince Gill’s Did Not Perform at Charlie Kirk’s Funeral
The rumor that the former “American Idol” star and Gill performed a duet at Kirk’s funeral was started on Facebook by the account, Golden Age Country, Prime Timer reports. The page also shared a photo of Gill and Underwood standing next to Kirk’s casket. The caption reads, “Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill Honor Charlie Kirk. The chapel was hushed in reverence when Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill stepped forward together at Charlie Kirk’s funeral. Dressed in black, their faces carried the weight of loss as they stood side by side beside the casket adorned with lilies.”
There was also discussion of how Underwood’s “angelic voice” and Gill’s “warm tenor” created a moving performance. “It wasn’t a performance; it was a hymn of comfort, a gift of love in the face of sorrow,” the caption continues. “When the last note faded into silence, Carrie placed a rose on the casket, and Vince whispered, ‘Rest in peace, Charlie.’ The room remained still, hearts heavy, yet touched by the grace of their song.”
It sounds like a moving and beautiful tribute. However, this did not happen, and the reports have since been debunked.
When Is Charlie Kirk’s Funeral?
Not only is it incorrect that Underwood and Gill performed at Kirk’s funeral, but the public memorial service has not taken place. Kirk’s funeral is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium, USA Today reports.
USA Today reports that Kirk’s body “was transported by Air Force Two from Salt Lake City, Utah, to the Phoenix mortuary on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.”
On Saturday, September 13, Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, shared several photos on Instagram. This includes one of her saying goodbye to Kirk, who was lying in his casket.
The caption was an emotional tribute to Kirk. Part of the lengthy message reads: “The sound of this widow weeping echos throughout this world like a battle cry. I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does our Lord. They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife. If they thought my husband’s mission was big now. you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. Forget my husband @charliekirk1776 I’ll make sure of it.”
