“American Idol” fans love to keep up with their favorite contestants and recently learned that season 21 winner Iam Tongi just marked a major chapter in his life.
On Friday, September 4, Tongi wed his fiancée, Leah Solis, and family and friends shared sweet videos and photos of their wedding celebration on Instagram. The ceremony was even more special because of its location, with the couple exchanging vows in Tongi’s hometown of Kahuku, Hawaii.

Photos and videos shared by family and friends showed the newlyweds looking radiant as they celebrated with an outdoor ceremony, which included several traditional Tongan dance performances by loved ones.
Solis looked beautiful in a lace wedding dress that flowed to the floor and wore a handmade floral crown called a Lei poʻo. Tongi wore a white button-down shirt paired with a tupenu, a traditional skirt-like garment worn by Tongan men, and kept it casual in flip-flops.
A video also saw the couple sweetly slow dancing to Nat King Cole’s “When I Fall in Love.”
A friend who posed the images and videos of the couple highlighted just how meaningful it was for Tongi and Solis to celebrate their marriage in Kahuku, where Tongi grew up. The location was especially fitting given the pride the Hawaiian community has taken in Tongi since his season 21 win.
“It was such a memorable evening celebrating their love in Kahuku, Hawaiʻi—the hometown where Iam grew up. As Hawaiʻi’s beloved American Idol winner, Iam has made our entire community so incredibly proud, sharing his extraordinary talent, humble spirit, and aloha with the world,” he wrote.
Tongi & Solis Share Meaningful Custom-Made Wedding Bands
Tongi and Solis have yet to share photos and videos from their wedding day, but the “American Idol” winner’s mom, Lillie Tongi, shared a sweet message celebrating her son and new daughter-in-law.
In an Instagram post featuring a photo of herself standing next to Solis and her son, Lillie revealed that “everything that could go wrong, went wrong” on their special day. However, the wedding-day mishaps didn’t stop the family from making the day into a magical one, adding “that didn’t stop us from celebrating Mr and Mrs Tongi.”
“Congrats and so happy to add another daughter to the crew. Love you Leah Tongi❤️ there’s no turning back now and here’s to eternity 👌🏼🤷♀️,” she wrote.
Before saying “I do,” the couple revealed that they had matching wedding bands custom-made for their special day. Each ring featured a meaningful design and a message engraved inside, reading, “Throughout all time & eternity.”
“Made in collaboration with Iam and Leah, this ring is a celebration of a joining of cultures, love, and family,” the jewelry designer, Maui Divers Jewelry, shared on Instagram.
Tongi and Solis dated for two years before the “American Idol” winner popped the question in December 2025. Solis shared photos of the couple in a backyard where Tongi is seen on one knee by a fire, where he asks for her hand in marriage.
“I’m officially a fiancée 🙂↔️ Leah Tongi… now I love the sound of that ☺️,” she shared.
