Jennifer Lopez has revealed her top parenting secret to have avoided raising ‘spoiled’ children in the spotlight. The former “American Idol” judge and iconic singer, is a mother to twins Emme and Max, 18, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. They are both set to head off to begin college in the fall.

GettyJLo shared her parenting secret in a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where she explained the importance of leading by example. The “On The Floor” hitmaker noted how children “do what they see you do”, which can have a major impact on how they develop as adults.
Jennifer then further explained how she’s been doubling down on trying to impart wisdom to her kids before they head off to college. She shared: “Even though I’m trying to download everything I’ve ever learned in my life, every lesson to them right now before they leave, I still feel like who you are as a person, how you act, what they see you do, if you work hard, they become more hard workers.
“I also see them like mimic … but just pick up things that are the good things or the good traits about you.”
Sweet Pre-College Farewell
The resurfaced parenting clip comes as JLo posted a series of snaps to Instagram with her two little boys enjoying a roadtrip in Italy ahead of their new chapter. The carousel of photos includes a hefty 19 shots capturing videos and photos from the family’s adventures as well as gorgeous Italian artwork and local sights such as the Colosseum in Rome.
Penned in the post’s caption, an emotional Jennifer wrote: “Road tripping with my coconuts before they head off to college,” followed by an emoji of a face heavily crying.
Fans flooded the post’s comments section with support to the mother, understanding how it can be a very tough time among the excitement. One user said: “Love all of these beautiful pictures of you with your two beautiful children, Max and Emme. They have really grown into their looks and are truly adults now. You did a great job as their mother, raising them to be good people and should be very proud of that! Two beautiful coconuts ready to go out into the world!”
A second shared: “Same girl! It’s so amazing and heartbreaking at the same time.”
A third added: “Always be together,” followed by an emoji of a red love heart.
Jennifer welcomed Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony in February of 2008. The pair separated in 2011 but the divorce was not legally finalized until three years later in 2014.
In a 2020 interview with People magazine JLo gushed about her excitement to see who and what her twins grow up to become in the future, saying: “It’s unconditional love. I know everybody feels this way about their kids, but I just feel like they’re super special. I can’t wait to see what they do.”
