Fate of Kelly Clarkson’s Talk Show Revealed

It may be the end for “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson‘s daytime talk show.

Page Six exclusively reported that the host will be calling it quits after this season. One insider described her pending exit from daytime as “definite” while another said it’s “likely that it will not go on,” according to the outlet. “[Her show] is a lot to put on, and looking at the landscape across daytime television, it’s not sustainable anymore,” they said.

Rumors of Clarkson’s Replacement

Last year, it was rumored that the former “TODAY” anchor, Hoda Kotb, was on the verge of replacing Clarkson amid her sudden exit from the morning show. There was also buzz that Clarkson wanted out, with NBC insiders telling the Post there was a long list of names, including Kotb, being suggested to replace her.

However, Page Six reported that “another insider told us that nothing’s been decided either way.” Although the insider acknowledged that there is ongoing buzz, they said that “people are jumping the gun,” and “nothing is definite yet, and it’s a still a long season.”

Multiple sources previously told Page Six that Clarkson was looking to exit her talk show when her contract expires in 2026. At the time, Clarkson had been absent from her show, and it was later revealed that this was due to caring for her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at 48 in August 2025 after a private battle with melanoma.

Clarkson revealed Blackstock had been ill, and she postponed her Las Vegas residency to spend time with their children, daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote in a statement, apologizing to fans and expressing appreciation for their “grace, kindness and understanding.”

In January 2026, Clarkson gave a rare update about how her kids are doing following the passing of their father.

During a YouTube question-and-answer session released on the official “Kelly Clarkson Show” channel, Clarkson responded to a fan who asked her to share one thing she does every day that brings her joy, and the answer involved her and Blackstock’s two children.

“Snuggle,” she responded. “My kids, they’re 9 and 11. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.”

“There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit,” she continued.

“It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot,” she quipped. “It’s been really special, though, because… the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite time of day.”
