Kristin Cavallari is once again giving fans a peek inside her personal life, this time through the lens of her home. The “Very Cavallari” and “Dancing with the Stars” alum and reality star welcomed Architectural Digest’s “Open Door” series into her new Nashville-area home, welcoming viewers through a space she describes as “peaceful” and centered around her three children.
The private 130-acre property just south of Nashville is the product of a collaboration between Cavallari and designer April Tomlin. The pair have been friends for a decade, and this home is the fourth property they have worked on together.
A New Chapter in Nashville
The AD feature marks a new chapter for Cavallari following the sale of her 28-acre Franklin, Tennessee estate. She purchased the property after her 2020 divorce from former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler and sold it earlier this year for $7.5 million. Her new home is designed as a sanctuary instead of a showpiece.
Cavallari spoke highly of the Nashville area, calling it really “quiet,” “peaceful,” and having a “real sense of community.” The area has allowed her to focus on her family while also responding to the demands of her career. “I’ve sort of curated my life, my career, to fit on my schedule. It’s just kind of mom life at this house,” she said.
The “mom life” she speaks about allows her to be present with her three children, all between ages 9 and 13. She has been consistent over the past few years in designing her homes around her children, Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor.
The Fun but Functional ‘Entertaining House’
The home includes a basketball court, pool, home gym and podcast studio where Cavallari films her podcast “Let’s Be Honest.” It is not lacking natural light in the slightest, either–the open living space, large floor-to-ceiling windows, natural wood tones and neutral color palette blend the indoors with the outdoors.
“It’s a really good entertaining house. The kids now all want to be here with the pool, the basketball court. There’s a lot for them to do, which I love. I love being the house that everyone wants to come to,” she said.
Moving to the kitchen, Cavallari shows just how functional the space is while still catering to a busy family. “The kitchen is definitely the place that gets the most activity, starting from essentially the second I wake up,” she said. “[The fridge] is always stocked because I’ve got three kids and these kids eat a ton of food.”
The space is elegant even in its functionality, with a large black-and-white marble backsplash and matching kitchen counters. The cool-toned wood cabinets and gold hardware make a consistently modern throughline of the house’s design.
Endless Produce from Her Garden
As Cavallari showed the Architectural Digest crew her refrigerator, she opened a drawer and revealed tons of fresh produce. She promised to give everyone cucumbers, zucchini, and green beans. Cavallari said that she is “constantly trying to get rid of it.”
“Anyone with a garden knows, you have so much produce,” she added.
Cavallari also admitted that she is a messy cook. “I am a very messy cook, but I am really good about cleaning up after myself. But you won’t find me cleaning up anything off the floor. That’s what my dogs are for. If I didn’t have dogs, it would be really bad. They’re like my little vacuum cleaners.”
