Former MTV star Kristin Cavallari is opening up about her recent lavish getaway to Mallorca. In early August, the reality star shared several photos from her getaway with close friends Justin Anderson, Rhode Austin, and, to many fans’ surprise, “Southern Charm” star Austen Kroll.
Now, Cavallari is setting the record straight about her relationship with the Bravo star after their recent hangout sparked romance speculation.
Kristin Cavallari Addresses Romance Rumors With ‘Southern Charm’ Star Austen Kroll After Mallorca Trip
GettyOn the Tuesday, August 25 episode of Kristin Cavallari’s “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, the former “Laguna Beach” star opened up about the rumors surrounding her relationship with “Southern Charm” star Austen Kroll after the pair enjoyed a recent getaway to Mallorca.
“Every [expletive] DM I’ve had for the last two weeks has been about Austen Kroll coming,” Cavallari said with her guest and good friend, Justin Anderson, who also joined Cavallari in Mallorca. The two discussed wanting someone else to join them for their European vacation and believed Kroll would be a good fit, with Cavallari also making it clear that they have always been good friends.
“We really had so much fun. When I tell you there was zero hooking up, there was zero hooking up,” she shared with Anderson, confirming. “He’s a buddy,” she added, “He was so respectful and so cool … He has the biggest heart … that’s the kind of guy I see anyway.”
Cavallari went on to address the idea that men and women can be strictly platonic friends, saying she believes she and Kroll are a perfect example.
“I without a doubt think men and women can be friends. I think Austen and I are a good example of that. I don’t think Austen likes me or has a crush on me,” she told Anderson. “We’re able to actually just be friends, and I think that’s why it was such a beautiful thing. And it was never awkward.”
Cavallari first shared photos of her Mallorca trip on August 4, including snapshots of her and Kroll enjoying dinner alongside Anderson and Rhode Austin. Another series of photos showed the four friends holding hands as they jumped into the ocean.
Cavallari & Kroll’s Friendship History
When Kroll was a guest on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in December 2020, he claimed that his friendship with Cavallari began when she DMed Conover.
“Honestly, she slid into Craig’s DMs and was like, ‘I’m coming into town.’ So we all went to dinner and we all just kind of hit it off,” he shared.
As Cavallari mentioned on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, she and Kroll have known each other for six years, but the two have had to deny romance rumors on multiple occasions.
According to Page Six, Cavallari previously hung out with Anderson, Kroll, and his “Southern Charm” co-star Craig Conover in Nashville in 2020. After the group was spotted together during an Instagram Live, Cavallari had to clarify the ensuing rumors, insisting she and Kroll were just friends.
“I didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to have FRIENDS that are guys,” she said in an Instagram Story.
In fact, she’s also had to deny rumors that she was in a “love triangle” with Kroll and Conover. The following year, she shared in an Instagram Story (via Page Six), “I’ve never dated either one of them, I can guarantee that I’m not gonna date either one of them, and it’s possible for a grown woman to be friends with a grown man, and for that to be it.”
