“We at the Americana Music Association have long admired Ms. Parton’s work as a singer, songwriter, entertainer and one of the greatest ambassadors music has ever known,” the executive director of the Americana Music Association, Jed Hilly, said in a statement. “With all of her extraordinary accomplishments — from philanthropy to television, film and business — our desire is to honor Dolly for what has always been at the heart of her legacy: a definitive songwriter and artist whose songs have shaped generations.”
This award is a recognition of her commitment to being an excellent artist, creator, and songwriter, and of creating an extensive catalog of music inspired by the Appalachian tradition. Her music also incorporates country, folk, bluegrass, gospel, and pop, all woven together through lyrics that tell stories.

Dolly Parton Makes ‘Transformational’ Gift to Children’s Hospital
She recently made a large financial gift to the children’s hospital that bears her name. While the amount remained undisclosed, a hospital representative said the amount was “generational and transformational.”
The facility’s president and chief executive officer, Matt Schaefer, gave his thoughts in an interview.
“What I can tell you is that she has made a generational and transformational commitment to Children’s and its mission, and that commitment is something that goes beyond our wildest expectations, that is, beyond generous, and will be a lifeline for this mission for now and for years to come. And we’re excited about and humbled by her willingness to do so,” he said.
“It was truly humbling, and to hear her, in her own words, talk about the importance of this to her, to her community, to this organization, and to children, was super affirming,” Schaefer continued.
“I think anytime you have someone of her stature, someone of her standing, certainly in this region, across the United States, across the world, honestly, and to have the halo effect of everything she stood for in her life, including her love for children in particular, it just is fantastic for the future of our mission,” he finished.
The East Tennessee Children’s Hospital was renamed the Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, which the singer shared in a video posted in February 2026.
