Dylan Scott Says His Wife Had a Surprising Reaction to His Hit Song
Country music star Dylan Scott recently sat down with Kate Neal on the radio show, “Katie & Company.” The host asked Scott about the writing inspiration behind his new hit single, “What He’ll Never Have.”
Scott opened up, saying, “Yeah, I mean, the inspiration, there was really no inspiration behind this. It really just started with I was playing the guitar, and I was like, ‘Man, this feels kind of good.’”
The country star added, “And, then the thought came to my head, like, you know, ‘What’s something different that I haven’t written about?’ And it was basically, you know, if I die…which is so morbid. Right, if I die? You know, hey, some other man can have all my stuff, but he will never love you the way that I’m going to love you, kind of a deal.”
Despite the emotional premise, Scott admitted that he didn’t initially think much of the song after finishing it. However, his perspective quickly changed after his wife heard it for the first time.
According to Scott, his wife immediately told him, “This is my favorite song you’ve ever written.”
Scott joked, “Well, this is the biggest insult I’ve ever got. Like, after all these love songs, you know?”
He went on to explain that his wife had to convince him that the track was actually the ultimate love song, even though he didn’t quite see it that way at first.
“The math ain’t mathin, but she was right. She usually is.” Scott added.
He also noted that “What He’ll Never Have” has since become one of the biggest songs he’s released so far, proving that his wife may have been right all along.
Dylan Scott Is a Family Man
When he’s not busy songwriting or recording in the studio, Dylan Scott can be found spending time with his family. Scott married his wife, Blair Robinson, in 2016. The couple are childhood sweethearts, meeting in seventh grade before beginning to date in 2006.
Scott is also the father of three. The country music star and his wife welcomed their first child, Beckett Scott, in December 2017. Their second child and first daughter, Finley Gray Scott, was born in August 2019. Their youngest, Barron Scott, joined the family in September 2023.
During his sit-down interview with Kate Neal on “Katie & Company,” Scott also shared that he and his wife have no plans to expand their family any further, making it clear they’re happy with their family of five.
