Kenny Chesney and Megan Moroney gave fans a surprise at the Sphere in Las Vegas on May 28.
The country singers treated fans at Chesney’s concert and performed their song, “You Had To Be There”, live for the first time since it was released.
The song holds a special place for the singers’ hearts as Moroney dedicated the track to Chesney.
“As you all know,” Moroney told the crowd at the Sphere, “I toured with Kenny Chesney last summer. He gave me the opportunity to open up for him, and I wrote him a song as my final thank you because I thanked him a million times. But I wanted him to have something forever because the tour really meant a lot to me and how loudly you support me. And I wrote about it and Kenny ended up liking it, and we put it out. Dream come true.”
“This is her brand new single,” Chesney said, “and I’m very, very honored and proud to be a part of it. As far as I know, I’ve never had another human being write a song for me, and Megan did that. She came down to the Virgin Islands with her whole team and played it for me.”
Fans Can’t Get Enough of the Duo
Chesney took to his Instagram to share a snippet of the special night.
“You Had To Be There last night at Sphere in Vegas,” Chesney wrote in the caption of the Instagram post. He went on to share Moroney and him sang their song live for the first time. “It felt amazing to share the stage with her again. Thank you Megan for being there. You lit up the room. Love you.”

The song was released on May 9 along with its official music video.
The video’s comments section is flooded with support from fans.

Chesney’s residency at the Sphere kicked off on May 22 and is set to come to an end on June 21.
