Andy Richter is proving that charm and a good sense of humor can go a long way on “Dancing With the Stars.” After surviving another elimination last night following Halloween Night, the 59-year-old comedian is still on the dance floor with pro partner Emma Slater, and he’s taking it all in stride.
Andy Richter Survives Another Elimination
While many “Dancing With the Stars” fans thought Richter might be gone during the first elimination, he has survived and will now be dancing in week 8 next week. Richter is definitely happy that he gets to keep dancing, crediting fan support for keeping him in the competition.
While his steps may not always be perfect, his infectious energy and commitment to entertaining audiences have made him one of this season’s most unexpected crowd favorites.
When talking with Parade, Richter said, “I’m not here because of the scores. People are just really enjoying what we do, and it’s important for me to make it a good dance that people enjoy watching. That’s kinda our thing.”
Yes, his routines aren’t always technically perfect. However, his humor and charm are what is winning over America and their votes.
During the judges’ feedback last night, Bruno Tonioli said their Paso Doble wasn’t “pure.” Richter laughed this off, explaining that he only learned what the dance even was a week prior.
“I guess I’ll just have to make it entertaining,” he joked.
Besides all of that, Richter said that he has found something special during his time on the show. “I can pick up steps more easily now,” he said. “I don’t know if I’ll continue being a ballroom dancer four hours a day, but I’m certainly going to keep moving.”
The ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pros Love Andy Also
It’s not just America loving Andy. The “Fandys” are all over the place, including former pro dancers on the show. Maks Chmerkovskiy has called it “the Andy experiment.”
During an episode of “The Penthouse with Peta” podcast, Maks said, “As long as Andy’s around, everybody thinks there’s a chance it’s not them [going home]. Andy will go eventually — maybe not. Maybe he’ll be in the finale. That’s when everybody’s going to be standing nervously.”
There is even more love for Andy from the former pros, including last night’s guest judge Cheryl Burke. She told Variety, “Everyone’s so shocked. [But] this has been happening. Welcome! I’m not surprised at all. This guy could easily make the finals.”
Yes, “Dancing With the Stars” fans know this happens, but could Andy make it all the way to the “DWTS” finals?

Sen$ him home. Good dancers are being eliminated and this clown, who walks while his partner dances around him gets to stay
I agree Larry, There is NO Way this dude should still be on the show, just blows my mind how people can vote for him .
