As Halloween Night began on “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday, Oct. 28, there was one couple that was noticeably missing.
Elaine Hendrix and her partner Alan Bersten were unable to compete after Hendrix sustained an injury during rehearsal the morning of the show and had to go to the hospital.
The news was announced by host Alfonso Ribeiro, who opened the show by sharing the unfortunate update. He did say that the two are still in the competition and fans can still vote for them.
Elaine Hendrix Provides Update From the Hospital
After the announcement, Hendrix shared a video on Instagram of her in the hospital.
“Halloween is my favorite, and I’m devastated. 💔 I was beyond excited to share what we had worked so hard on, although you’ll see a version of it. With your support, I’ll be back in the ballroom next week. I want nothing more,” she captioned the post. “I’m sending all my love to Alan and the entire Dancing with the Stars team — (including @lisaannwalter. of course, she’s with me). Thank you all for your love, your support, and your votes. I couldn’t do this without you. 🫶🏼🎃 #DWTS#TeamPartnerTrap”
And here’s everything she said in the video:
“Hi. So, obviously I’m not in the ballroom. I injured my ribs during ‘Defying Gravity’ and today they just seized up and I couldn’t move. They brought me to the hospital, but the doctor has said with a day or two of rest, I should be able to continue and that’s exactly what I want to do. I want to dance. I want to keep doing this. Alan Bersten is holding down the fort. He’s amazing, he’s awesome. I was so excited for this routine and you’ll get to see it in its rehersal form. And just know that I love you all and thank you for the support. Please vote for us because I want to see you next week.”
How to Vote for Elaine Hendrix
Hendrix and Bersten were set to perform an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant. However, while their dance won’t be seen, voting opened at the start of the live broadcast and remains open until the final commercial break.
