Rugby star and Olympic medalist Ilona Maher nearly won season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars,” and fans have continued to adore her since then. In a recent social media post, Maher clapped back at a critic who suggested she looked pregnant in a dress she wore. DWTS fans loved how she handled it.
Ilona Maher’s not Pregnant, She Just Embraces Her Real Curves
On January 11, Maher shared a new video on her Instagram page. She explained that on a recent social media post of hers, a guy commented that she looked pregnant in the dress she was wearing.
Maher shared that, unfortunately, he deleted his comment, seemingly before she could post the great comeback she had prepared. So, instead, she decided to create a separate post so she could still get her message out.
The Olympian wore a long, orange-hued dress that hugged her curves. She let the ensemble hug all of her curves, including her stomach area. Maher chose not to wear shapewear that would have hidden or flattened her stomach. Instead, she wanted to show her real, natural body shape.
In the caption, Maher wrote, “I think this message is too important to not share again.”
Maher then said, “That’s just a normal woman’s body.” She dished out some digs toward the guy who initially commented, suggesting he’s not very familiar with a real woman’s shape.
She also pointed out that she’s a professional athlete and she “always” has a bit of a noticeable tummy bump. Maher turned to the side and showed how she looked as she sucked in her stomach, noting she still had it.
“So please, PLEASE, stop commenting the dumbest stuff,” Maher concluded, before blowing a kiss.
‘Dancing With the Stars’ Fans Had Maher’s Back
Maher previously wore the dress that prompted the criticism in an Instagram post she shared on December 29. After her newer post, where she clapped back at the male critic, a couple of fans added new comments.
“Gorgeous dress and color on you,” one fan raved.
Love that Dress and that color,” another gushed.
The new post Maher shared was flooded with love.
“Dancing with the Stars” pro Daniella Karagach commented with a string of applause emojis. Former contestant Brooks Nader noted that Maher looked “hot” and, in an additional comment, called her a “Queen!!!”
One supporter commented, “God forbid we have a uterus.”
Someone else added, “I’ve always found it incredibly sad that looking pregnant is meant as an insult too. I look like I’m creating life? Ok doing WAY more than you then.”
An additional fan’s response read, “More like ‘you look like an Olympic medalist in that dress!'”
