Mark Ballas Provides New Update Regarding ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Future

Professional dancer Mark Ballas first appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” season 5 back in 2007. He was 21-years-old and would go on to compete in 20 additional seasons. As of season 34, Mark Ballas has won three Mirrorball trophies and appeared in the finale several times.

But will the beloved dancer compete in season 35?

Mark Ballas Hasn’t Made Up His Mind About DWTS Season 35

Mark Ballas and his mother, “Strictly Come Dancing” judge Shirley Ballas, will be involved in DWTS season 35 to some degree. The mother-son duo judge the show’s spin-off, “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro.”

However, the dancer isn’t quite sure if he wants to compete for the Mirrorball trophy in the fall. He’s had an insanely busy few months and could use a break.

“I’m not sure if I’m returning yet,” Mark Ballas shared with Us Weekly. “I just had a really solid, straight patch of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ ‘The Traitors,’ ‘The Next Pro’ that we just shot.”

In season 34, Mark teamed up with “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt. Although they had remarkably high scores and several memorable routines, they were eliminated just before the finale. They went on to star in “Chicago” together as Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn.

“I just finished doing ‘Chicago’ on Broadway, so I’m gonna take a beat for a second, and then I’ll decide in the summer or in the fall. But I’m open to it,” the 39-year-old shared.

Without a doubt, fans would love to see Mark Ballas compete for the Mirrorball trophy again. At the very least, they would hope to see him at the judges’ table, seated alongside his best friend, Derek Hough.

The Professional Dancer Teases Upcoming Projects

Even if Mark Ballas doesn’t compete this fall, he has new content on the way for fans to enjoy. He posted a new Instagram video teasing his upcoming projects.

“What’s up, everyone? It’s been a week since we finished ‘Chicago,’ and I just wanted to say thank you,” the dancer cheerfully told fans. “It’s been a wild year. I did ‘The Traitors,’ ‘Dancing With the Stars’ 34, straight into learning ‘Chicago,’ went and shot ‘The Next Pro’ which is coming out soon. And then I just did a month of ‘Chicago’ on Broadway. We just heard this week that we broke the box office record again. And none of this would have been possible without you.”

Ballas went on to discuss which shows he’d like to do next, including “Hamilton” and “Hadestown.” He’d love to star in a show alongside his wife, BC Jean. But until Broadway calls again, he and BC have been working on some new music for their band, Alexander Jean.

“Also on top of that, BC and I have been working on a new Alexander Jean album, so that will be coming soon as well,” he continued. “We’re gonna start rolling it out this year, I hope. I’m excited to have a little bit of time off, spend some time with my family.”

Fans can tune in to see the “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro” premiere on Monday, July 13, on ABC. DWTS season 35 kicks off this September on the network.
