Ashley Williams Reveals Hilarious Reason Why She’s ‘an Actual Nightmare for a Makeup Artist’

There’s no doubt that Hallmark star Ashley Williams is a talented actress — as well as a skilled doula — but she’s also pretty darn funny. She proved that fact when she took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes look at her preparing for work while showing off her adorably goofy sense of humor.

‘Nightmare’ Ashley Will Put a Smile on Your Face

Williams took to Instagram on Tuesday, May 5, to share a video that showed herself getting her makeup done. While some people might make sure that they stay as still as possible while the pro does their work, Williams did the exact opposite.

In the short recording, the actress can be seen showing off a few moves while enthusiastically lipsyncing to “Ain’t Nothing Gonna Break My Stride” by John Nothing.

In the caption, she admitted, “I’m an actual nightmare for a makeup artist. #tuesday #girlpower”

The comments of the post were filled with messages from friends, fans and followers who adored what they were seeing in the video, with Williams’ sister, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, writing, “😂😂😂”

“Ashley Williams. You make me laugh every time I watch your post,” another person added.

A third fan wrote, “I so enjoy your silliness. You put a smile on [my face]!!!!”

“Ashley, you make my day. Love you soooo much! Love every movie that you’re in. Keep me laughing,” came from another follower.

“Thanks for always bringing joy into this crazy world we live in,” one social media user added.

One makeup artist left a comment, saying, “😂 Hilarious…it is a learned skill set for us to do our work on a moving target😆”

A Sad Moment for Ashley Happily Inspired 2 Hallmark Movies

Although Williams appears to embrace her silly side and has a smile that will make you grin right back, she’s not always perfectly cheery. In fact, she happened to find inspiration for two of her Hallmark movies when she was feeling pretty blue.

“I got really sad in an airport one day, and I had an idea for a movie based on sort of my own downward spiral of self-hatred,” Williams told Us Weekly in June 2025, while discussing “To Barcelona, With Love” and “To Barcelona, Forever.”

“I had this idea for about like a writer who, you know, she’s a terrible writer, but the person who translates her book into a different language [then] rewrites it and makes it an actually good book,” she said. Fans who have seen “To Barcelona, With Love” may recognize this story.

“That would be the only way that I would ever be a successful writer is if somebody rewrote what I wrote into an actually good book,” Williams joked. “That was literally my thought.”

She then added, “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s kind of not a bad idea for, like, a rom-com.”

After pitching the idea to Hallmark writer Julie Sherman Wolfe, who suggested getting a star who speaks another language onboard, Williams recalls, “Right then, Alison Sweeney walked by and I said, ‘Hey, Ali, do you speak another language?’ And she said, ‘Spanish.’ And I turned to Julie, and I said, ‘So the movie takes place in Barcelona.’ And that is how the idea came about.”

With the project continuing to roll, Us explains that Williams and Sweeney “signed on to play writer Anna and translator Erica, respectively. The excitement, however, wasn’t over, because Sherman Wolfe liked the idea so much, she asked the actresses to figure out how to make it into two movies.” Which, of course, she did to the delight of fans.
