Pop star and fashion icon Lana Del Rey has proven throughout her career to be quite the enigma, from regularly experimenting with her sound to making headlines in 2024 for marrying Louisiana alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene.
But our new favorite fascinating fact about the “Doin’ Time” singer is what she revealed in W’s cover story on August 26, 2025: that she’s a huge Hallmark Channel fan.
Lana Del Rey Says Her ‘Favorite’ Movies Are Those on Hallmark Channel
GettyDuring Del Rey’s interview with W magazine, the 40-year-old songstress, who now spends most of her time in Louisiana with her husband, said she has a go-to list of programs she watches to calm her nerves, from videos about tornadoes to Hallmark flicks.
“If I’m feeling nervous, I usually put on ‘Don’t Look Back,’ the documentary about Bob Dylan,” she said. “Or I’ll watch YouTube videos of storm chasers. If you search for the ‘top 10 biggest tornadoes of all time,’ you can see them all. I like the intensity of the tornado, the intensity of big weather. I always study the sky — if I could transport the Louisiana sky to Los Angeles, I’d be in heaven.”
Del Rey told W she considers movie directors Quentin Tarantino and David Lynch “the biggest influences on my work.” She then noted, “But the majority of what I watch is not films. My favorites are shows on the Hallmark Channel. Hallmark movies are great.”
Acknowledging the calming effect the network’s programming can have in times of stress, Del Rey added, “Going into 2018 and 2019, it was a bad time and I had Hallmark running on the TV 24 hours a day.”
Lana Del Rey Gave a Shoutout to Hallmark in 2018 Hit
Del Rey’s statement about her love for Hallmark makes her 2018 song “Venice Bitch” makes all the more sense, given that she gives the brand a shoutout in the lyrics.
“Give me Hallmark,” she sings. “One dream, one life, one lover. Paint me happy and blue, Norman Rockwell, No hype under our covers, It’s just me and you.”
Like one of her besties, Taylor Swift, Del Rey has, in essence, been living out a Hallmark romance. While Swift has found true love with a football star, Del Rey’s mastering the big-city-girl-finds-love-in-a-small-town trope found in many a Hallmark movie, since settling down in Louisiana with Dufrene.
In what could be right out of a Hallmark script, Del Rey told W, “When we met, I realized pretty immediately that I loved him, but that it might get difficult because of what I was bringing to the table. Jeremy said, ‘I work with alligators—I have tough skin.’ And he is a man of his word. All the things that made me upset—and there were so many!—he would just listen and say, ‘You be you—and I’ll just love you more.'”
