Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi opened up about her cervical cancer diagnosis during a rare interview on “Good Morning America.”
The mom of three — who shares sons Lorenzo and Angleo, as well as daughter Giovanna with husband Jianni LaValle — revealed how her children reacted to the news.
How Snooki’s Kids Reacted to Cancer Diagnosis
Snooki sat down with Lara Spencer on Thursday, April 23, where she vulnerably discussed her stage 1 cancer diagnosis.
The “Jersey Shore” star will undergo a hysterectomy as her treatment for the disease, which she admits has been difficult to accept.
“I know I’m done with kids, but just knowing that you can’t,” she said, getting emotional. “I don’t know, it made me feel like, I’m not a mom. I don’t know a lot of emotions went into my head. Even though I’m done.”
The “Flea Market Flip” star responded, “I’m sure you mourn the loss of your ability to have more children.”
Snooki then shared how her kids have reacted and grasped her health battle.
“They keep asking, ‘Are you dying?'” she admitted. “And I’m like, ‘No I’m not dying. I’m just sick and I need to figure it out and then mommy will be fine.'”
Snooki’s Cancer Battle
The MTV star first opened up about her medical issues in a January 2026 TikTok video, where she explained that her latest pap smear results came back abnormal.
“It’s not easy being a woman, especially when it comes to appointments and going through these uncomfortable appointments and situations,” she began in a “Story Time” video on January 21. “I’ve been having issues with getting abnormal results, precancerous cells in your cervix. I’ve been dealing with this for probably three or four years now, just making sure that there’s nothing that will escalate to cervical cancer.”
After following up with her doctor, she underwent a colposcopy, which she called a “terrifying” experience.
“He found cancerous cells in the top of my cervix,” she revealed.
A month and numerous tests after her initial health report, Snooki revealed her stage 1 cancer diagnosis.
“Obviously not the news that I was hoping for,” she told fans in the video confirming the diagnosis on February 20. “Also not the worst news.”
What’s Next for Snooki?
While the reality star is still waiting to undergo her hysterectomy, she’s not letting her diagnosis slow her down.
Earlier this month, she announced that her podcast, “It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey,” will soon return after an extended hiatus.
Snooki and the rest of her “Jersey Shore” castmates also intend on continuing their reality show journey.
“I feel like us as a cast, we’ve always said we’ll continue filming until we’re in a nursing home,” she told the HGTV star of her “roomies.” “We love filming. It’s not over for us. We don’t know where we’re going yet, but we had a great relationship with MTV.”
When asked by Spencer how “Jersey Shore” “shaped” her, Snooki responded bluntly, “It’s my whole life.”
“It shaped who I am today,” she added. “I’m so glad that it happened because I can’t picture my life [as] anything else.”
