Alice Cooper Reveals Why He’s Never Gotten a Tattoo, and Fans Think He Has a Very Relatable Reason

Alice Cooper has spent decades making audiences jump, scream, and wonder what he could possibly do next onstage. And the legendary rocker has never been one to shy away from theatrical stunts. But there is one thing Cooper apparently wants nothing to do with. And it’s something plenty of people deal with every day.

In a video shared to his Instagram account (@alicecooper) on Monday, August 17, 2026, Cooper, 78, revealed why he has never gotten a tattoo, even though tattoos are incredibly common in the music industry.

Yep, his reason is actually pretty simple; Cooper doesn’t like needles.

And honestly, considering everything he has been willing to do onstage throughout his career, it’s a pretty funny contrast.

Alice Cooper Has No Problem With His Onstage Stunts

During the conversation, Cooper opened up about why he has continued to love performing as his iconic Alice character.

“I never lost my love for what I do up there. I love playing the character, Alice. I mean, he’s a villain, but he’s a funny villain.”

That enthusiasm for the character has been a major part of Cooper’s career, with his performances becoming known for their theatrical, sometimes shocking, stage productions.

So, what actually scares the rocker? Well, Cooper made it clear that his list of fears probably doesn’t look like most people’s.

“I can put my head in a guillotine. I can put a 15-foot boa constrictor around my neck.”

Let’s be real, those aren’t exactly the things most people would consider comfortable.

Cooper has spent years incorporating elaborate stunts and horror-inspired imagery into his performances, so it seems like there isn’t much that can make him nervous when he’s onstage. A giant snake? No problem. A guillotine? Apparently, also no problem.

Lab work at the doctor’s office, however, is a completely different story.

So, Why Doesn’t Alice Cooper Have Any Tattoos?

The big reveal came when Cooper explained exactly why he has managed to remain tattoo-free after all these years.

But a blood test? I go right out. I don’t have one tattoo. Because needles and I don’t get along at all.

Yep, there it is. Despite being a rock star whose career has been filled with plenty of outrageous moments, Cooper has never gotten a tattoo because he doesn’t want to deal with the needles required to get one.

And honestly, that might be one of the most relatable things Cooper has ever shared.

Fans Had Plenty to Say About Cooper’s Needle Fear

His Instagram followers certainly seemed to get it, with several people jumping into the comments to admit that they also aren’t fans of needles.

“I find this funny because I am a nurse… and because you used to terrify me. Haha turns out, I loved to be terrified when I saw you live! If you ever need needles, I’ve got you! ❤️”

Another fan wrote:

“I don ‘t like needles , too, Alice!! 😱😨 I have no tattoo… I like tattoos on other people, on @johnnydepp for example 😉😜 but I don’t want tattoo on my skin!”

Of course, other fans weren’t going to let the conversation stay focused on needles.

“This is why I love you and your band!!!! You love the amazing songs and you still love singing them!!!”

Another commenter had a different take on Cooper’s description of Alice as a villain.

“You aren’t a villain character in my opinion, you’re a trickster character that is very wise and poetic and clever and cool!”

Other fans simply showed their support, with comments including, “I’m with you on the needles, @alice 😮,” “We’re not worthy! 🙌,” and “We all love you and always have.”

One fan also praised Cooper as “the absolute driving force of the band, a legendary talent, a rock genius 🦇👏🏼👏🏼🖤”

It seems like Cooper’s fans appreciate more than just the outrageous stage persona. They also love the man behind Alice, and this little confession gave them yet another reason to connect with the rock legend.

Let’s be real, there is something pretty great about learning that the man who can put a 15-foot boa constrictor around his neck has a very relatable fear of needles.

Alice Cooper may be fearless when it comes to his stage character, but when it comes to tattoos, it looks like he is perfectly happy keeping his skin ink-free.
