Liza Minnelli, 80, may be a Hollywood icon, but even the biggest stars need to step back from the spotlight when it’s time to take care of themselves. That’s what the singer and actress is doing amid a health issue that forced her to cancel an upcoming event.
“Hey Kids, Doctor Piro’s orders, I’m sitting Monday out,” Minelli wrote in the caption of an Instagram post that she shared on Friday, March 20. “I’m so sorry. Nothing serious, I promise. A damn bug that’s going around. [Michael Feinstein] and I will reschedule. Stay tuned. Our show always goes on. XO”
Parade notes that “Minnelli, along with her longtime collaborator Michael Feinstein, was supposed to appear at the Temple Emanu-El Streicker Cultural Center on Monday for an event titled ‘Stories, Songs, Resilience and All That Jazz,’ where she would chat about her life and career, as well as the stories chronicled in her new book.”
Liza’s Fans Sent Love & Support to the Star
In response to Minnelli’s post, her fans left plenty of comments, with one person writing, “Take care of yourself Liza!!! You are a Gem!!! Health first ❤️❤️❤️”
“Hope u get well soon, diva! 💖💖💖💖,” another follower added.
A third fan commented, “Sending healing love & energy!!!”
“I’m devastated!!😭😭😭 get better soon!! and plssss reschedule, it’s my biggest dream to see you in real life🥺,” came from another social media user.
Someone else left a comment referring to one of the star’s movies, writing, “Hope you have someone taking great care of you. Feel better soon! (Arthur – ‘I’ve never taken care of anybody. Everybody’s always taken care of me’) ❤️❤️❤️”
Liza Also Caused Concern Just a Few Days Ago
GettyThe news of Minnelli’s cancellation comes just days after she appeared at another event that sparked concern among fans.
“It was meant to be a glitzy and fun-filled celebration of Liza Minnelli’s incredible life — but ended up leaving her many fans fearing for her future,” according to the Daily Mail. “The Cabaret icon celebrated the release of her memoir, ‘Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!’ with pal and long-time collaborator Michael Feinstein at a theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.”
“Onlookers were left shocked, though, as the 80-year-old star trailed off in mid-sentence and cackled incoherently multiple times when asked to recall her time on stage and in films,” the Mail added. “Worrying footage also showed Minnelli, who suffers from mobility issues, slumped down in a director’s chair, looking confused as she was dragged off the stage at the end of the appearance.”
Hopefully, the star will be doing better soon!
