21-year-old TikTok-viral indie-pop rocker Sombr broke a big chunk out of his front tooth while performing in Wisconsin on November 3, 2026, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to perform. The show was a part of his You Are the Reason Tour supporting his debut album “I Barely Know Her.”
The musician laughed off the accident, saying “Pause, pause, pause” before asking the crew to zoom in on his face.
He then grinned into the camera, revealing his broken tooth while laughing as the crowd applauded.
“I’m so happy to inform all of you that ‘Thombr’ has returned,” he joked at one point, faking a lisp and referencing a previous similar incident.
The “Back to Friends” singer explained the accident happened while he was trying to take a drink. “I was just going over to take a sip of my water bottle. I bang it on my tooth, and I chip my tooth.” He then good-naturedly told the crowd, “Make some noise for me. I’m really tough. Rock star.”
Sombr Previously Chipped His Tooth & Performed for Fans Right After
Sombr has now suffered tooth damage around four times. One of those was in the spring of 2025, when he lost a chunk of enamel while performing in Brooklyn. He took to the streets soon after to perform his hit “Back to Friends” for waiting fans.
Who Is Sombr?
Sombr is a New York City native who was raised on the lower east side and attended the famous LaGuardia High School as a vocal major, the same school attended by such stars as Nicki Minaj and Timothee Chalamet. He dropped out as a junior after his 2022 song “Caroline,” which he revealed he recorded in his “messy bedroom,” gained traction on TikTok.
In 2025, his career soared with the hits “Back to Friends” and “Undressed,” which both charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
Sombr Hits Back at ‘Nepo Baby’ Claims
In a September 2026 Elle feature, Sombr explained why he’s not a “nepo baby” despite his father’s successful event management company, AAB productions. His father Andy Boose, a former musician, founded the company in 2004 after spending a decade as a special events director at amfAR, a charity dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic. He’s also worked at GQ magazine.
AAB productions boasts a list of past high-profile clients including The Elton John AIDS Foundation, The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Madonna’s Raising Malawi and more, Elle says.
Sombr says he will “forever respect” his parents, but the idea that he could get signed or “become a big artist” because of the fact his dad “devotes his life to fight AIDS” is unrealistic. The star in fact called it “insane.”
He added he often sees a talented person blow up, and then sees “nepo baby” accusations be thrown at them at few months later.
On fame, Sombr said he finds the idea “lame,” explaining, “It’s self-centered to call yourself famous. I don’t even think of it as a positive thing. How can I describe being in the spotlight when I don’t always want to be seen.”
