Priscilla Presley Recalls Her Fondest Memories of Elvis & Clears Up Rumors About His Hair

Priscilla Presley shared her favorite thing about Elvis Presley in an interview with Hello! on January 5. “He had the best laugh … He just had a great sense of humour and [was] fun to be with,” she recalled.

She also shared a memory of taking her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, to see Elvis perform, adding, “She’d spent extensive time with him at Graceland. We still cared for each other.”

Lisa Marie passed away on January 12, 2023, from complications following a weight-loss surgery, leaving behind four children, including actress Riley Keough.

“My granddaughter Riley and I are very close. She’s just a wonderful mother. It’s wonderful seeing your grandchild grow up, and she’s been so successful. We’re all very close, all of us in the family,” Priscilla said.

As for rumors surrounding Elvis’ alleged wigs and hairpieces, Priscilla told a fan during her book tour, “No, that’s not true; that was his beautiful hair.”

Priscilla Still Had a Great Relationship With Elvis Post-Divorce

Priscilla often took Keough to visit Elvis in Memphis after their divorce, and that was something her daughter was grateful for.

While on “This Morning” in October 2025, promoting her book, “Softly, As I Leave: Life After Elvis,” she said, “She was already about five years old, and getting older obviously. So I wanted to maintain that love and closeness between the two of them.”

“And she actually thanked me for that, you know, because she said, ‘Mom, this doesn’t usually happen with divorces,” Priscilla continued.

The author revealed that the reason for the split was Elvis’ lifestyle. “It wasn’t mine — it was his. It was all his. I barely had any friends.”

She added, “I just needed to go out and do things. I mean, he likes everybody to stay in the house. I wanted to go to dance classes. I wanted to find out who I was.”

Priscilla Loved Taking Care of Elvis During Their Marriage

Priscilla was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973, and despite the “Hound Dog” singer’s star status, she loved being a traditional wife.

“I mean, we had help. But I also wanted to be a part of it,” she shared on “The View” in September 2025. “I wanted to not just have servants do everything. Sometimes I’d even make the bed.”

Priscilla revealed that although she and Elvis had a great relationship after their divorce, she didn’t see them rekindling their romance if he were still alive today.

“I think we had a better relationship not being married. The pressure wasn’t on,” she said.

They would still often meet, with Elvis showing up at her house in the middle of the night just to talk, Priscilla told the “View” hosts.

“He would tell things about what he was concerned about, and his career … I was with him all that time, so I was the receiver of his concerns,” she recalled.
