Elvis Presley was the “King of Rock and Roll” and beloved by many, so when he died on August 16, 1977, at just 42, the world was left in shock. He died at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, and his cause of death was reported as a heart attack.
Some fans are still in disbelief and feel that Presley is alive, living in hiding. The conspiracy theories have been resilient, so much so that Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, addressed them in a September 2025 interview with People.
Is Elvis Presley Still Alive?

“There’s been so much that’s untruthful out there — things like Elvis is still alive and hidden somewhere,” Priscilla told People. “I wish he was still alive.”
In her interview, Priscilla also reflected on their relationship. She was 14 when she met Elvis in 1959. In 1963, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to be with him and live in his home. In 1967, they were married. Elvis was ten years older than Priscilla.
“I met him at such a young age I didn’t have time to think about life yet,” Priscilla reflected. “Even when dating him, I’d think, ‘What am I going to do? I don’t want to be a nurse. I don’t want to be a teacher. I don’t want to be a secretary. What can do?’ Other things happened, and I love every moment.”
They welcomed their first and only child together, a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, on February 1, 1968. The couple divorced when Lisa Marie was five, but remained on good terms after their split. More about their relationship will be revealed in Priscilla’s upcoming memoir, “Softly, as I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” which will be released on September 23.
Did Elvis Presley & Priscilla Presley Remain Friends?

“I wanted to keep the family together as much as I could. One way or another, I made sure she saw her daddy,” Priscilla wrote of co-parenting with Elvis, People reports. “I mean, I can’t even remember Elvis and I having a feud. He did have a temper, there’s no doubt. In the movie ‘Priscilla’, it has a moment where Elvis is on the telephone talking to Colonel Parker. The real story is Colonel was really upsetting him, and I had just come in, he didn’t know I was there.”
She shared that Elvis had a temper but that he “never hurt anyone” and when he had thrown the chair, he immediately came “running over” to her to see if she was OK.
