Beloved Rapper’s Family Asks for Prayers as He Fights for Life in ICU: ‘We’re Holding Onto Hope’

Rapper Young Bleed is currently fighting for his life after being hospitalized just days after his high-energy performance at the Cash Money Verzuz No Limit show during ComplexCon. The 47-year-old Baton Rouge native, best known for his 1998 hit “How Ya Do Dat,” fell critically ill soon after the event.

His longtime partner, Tameka Long (known as Madamm Meek), told TMZ Hip Hop that Bleed had been battling high blood pressure and a heart condition for some time.

Doctors later confirmed that the rapper suffered a brain aneurysm caused by internal bleeding, sending shockwaves through the hip-hop community as fans and fellow artists continue to rally around him.

Family Confirms Young Bleed Is ‘Fighting’ For His Life

While false reports of his death circulated online, Young Bleed’s sister, Tedra Johnson-Spears, set the record straight. She confirmed that the rapper is still in the hospital and asked for privacy.

“IF YOU HAVE NOT CALLED HIS MOTHER PERSONALLY PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT HIM,” she wrote on social media. “OUR FAMILY ASK THAT YOU RESPECT OUR PRIVACY AND HOLD ALL CALLS AND TEXT AT THIS TIME. HE IS STILL CURRENTLY IN ICU.”

Tedra emphasized that their mother has requested people refrain from making premature “RIP” posts, urging fans to pray for his recovery instead.

Loved Ones & Fans Show Support

According to Long, Young Bleed is currently in the ICU in Las Vegas on a ventilator but is showing signs of stability. “His vitals are OK, so they have confidence he’ll make it out and recover,” she told TMZ Hip Hop.

Long and Bleed share a 10-year-old son, and his mother has launched an official GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses. Family members have encouraged fans to donate only through the verified account.

Meanwhile, fellow artists like Master P and Snoop Dogg have offered their love and prayers.

“We need more prayers for him and his family as he fights in the ICU,” Master P wrote on Instagram, adding, “#GodGotUs #NoLimitSoldier. Tell your people you love them every time they walk out the door.”

Hope for Recovery Amid Challenges

Young Bleed’s medical emergency comes after a busy year of new music and public appearances. Fans had just seen him performing live at ComplexCon, where he electrified the crowd with “How Ya Do Dat.”

While his condition remains serious, loved ones are optimistic. “We’re praying for his full recovery,” said Long. “He’s strong, and we’re holding onto hope.”

  3. I have been in this very space with my son. He suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain aneurysm) following a head to head tackle during a semipro football game on 5/19/19. While my son was laying in an ICU literally fighting for his life, social media posts were flying with those dreaded words RIP! It is the worst feeling EVER! I stand with this family in prayer..May God bring this young man through!!
