Singer, actress, and fashion designer Jessica Simpson has confirmed the recent news that a Netflix documentary about her life and career is on the way.
Simpson, 46, rose to fame in the late 1990s with the release of her 1999 album “Sweet Kisses.” That album featured her most popular single to date, “I Wanna Love You Forever,” which peaked at number one on the Hot Singles Sales chart (per Billboard).
She has also appeared in movies like 2005’s “The Dukes of Hazzard” and 2008’s “Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous.” Her television credits include “That ’70s Show,” “Entourage,” and “Fashion Show.”
After Variety revealed the news about a Jessica Simpson Netflix documentary last week, on Thursday, August 20 (which has also been confirmed by Netflix themselves), Simpson has subsequently taken to social media to officially announce it to her fans and followers herself.

Jessica Simpson confirmed the news about her Netflix documentary with the 6.1 million followers on her Instagram account.
Her post about it includes a single black-and-white photograph of Simpson being filmed in what appears to be her home (presumably for the documentary in question). The text overlaid on it is Variety’s headline about the documentary, which says, “Jessica Simpson Doc Set at Netflix From ‘Robbie Williams’ Director Joe Pearlman (EXCLUSIVE).”
The star’s 2025 album track “Breadcrumbs” plays over the top of the post.
Simpson’s caption on her announcement post reads, “It’s time to open a new chapter. 🎥 🎶 💫 @Netflix, 2027.”
Given Simpson’s varied career and high-profile relationships (per Us Weekly, she’s either been married to or dated the likes of singer-songwriter Nick Lachey, musician John Mayer, and football star Eric Johnson, and more), the documentary about her career and life should make for very interesting viewing.

The documentary about Jessica Simpson doesn’t yet have a name (but, given the title of Joe Pearlman’s Robbie Williams documentary, it will probably simply be called “Jessica Simpson”) or a specific release date, but you can look forward to it hitting Netflix some time next year. We absolutely can’t wait to see it.
